Knuckles fights robots as Sonic and Tails disable a generator, but Eggman retrieves Sonic’s life data. A beaten Eggman and Sara appear, with Sara blaming Eggman for her captivity. Eggman reveals Hyper Metal Sonic, who defeats Sonic. Tails and Knuckles return to the Land of the Sky, learning Metal plans to melt the ice caps to destroy the region. Sonic wakes in Green Lake City, then joins Tails and Knuckles at the North Pole, where Sara is held captive. During a rematch, Tails corrupts Metal’s data using a navigation watch, allowing Sonic to damage him. Metal saves the trapped President, proving he has emotions. Metal falls into a volcano, rejecting Sonic’s rescue before being destroyed by magma. Eggman’s missile destroys the DNA disc, and Knuckles chases Sonic after accidentally stepping on his head.
