Believing a confrontation with Koenma would be pointless, Sakyo wagers his life on the Younger Toguro’s success, prompting Koenma to match the bet. Sakyo recounts the origins of his gambling addiction to the Younger Toguro. Although the Elder Toguro survives and taunts the competitors regarding their wagers, the Younger Toguro refuses his help in the fight against Yusuke and expels him from the island.
