After Fū declares the battle continues, the girls receive additional fairies and face another forestization. Yuna destroys the remaining Vertex cores using her new fairy, alarming her friends. Yuna and Mimori are then separated and summoned by a hospitalized girl, Sonoko Nogi, a former hero. Sonoko explains the Hero System, revealing that heroes permanently lose bodily functions for Mankai power and serve as immortal sacrifices to Shinju. Mimori feels sadness, suspecting she knows Sonoko but cannot remember her. Shocked by this revelation, Yuna promises Mimori she will find a way to resolve the situation as they are escorted home.
