After being rescued from the desert by Command Wolf pilot Irvine, Van and Fiona reunite with Zeke and the Shield Liger. They discover an ancient fortress guarded by a Gordos and enter through the sewers. Inside, they find a diary from a soldier stationed there fifty years prior, revealing the Gordos was abandoned due to a leg injury, which Van attempts to repair. Irvine reappears to capture Zeke and attacks the group, but retreats when the Gordos defends the Shield Liger. During their exploration, Van and Fiona uncover a tablet with mysterious writing. Fiona recalls the term 'Zoid Eve,' prompting the pair to leave the ruins and search for more information about this enigmatic concept.
