After buzzer beater
Throughout his school years the narrator was perpetually outshone by Mun Jung-Min, a classmate whose natural talent stood between him and every personal victory he tried to claim. The repeated defeats turned Jung-Min into a name he came to despise and a constant reminder of his own limits. Years later, having reached the professional basketball league himself, he finds his thoughts drifting back to that rival again and again, the memories tangled with resentment and a sourness that has not faded. Beneath the anger, however, a different impulse seems to be surfacing, something close to a wish for another meeting on the court. The story follows a player who carried himself forward by sustaining a grudge against a prodigy, and is presented as the fourteenth and concluding story in the Sachungi: Neoreul Saenggakaneun Bom collection.
