Atom: The Beginning

In a Japan recovering from a mysterious large-scale disaster, five years have passed and rebuilding efforts are progressing. At a university, two young researchers are focused on developing robots. They are working on a new take on the origin of the legendary hero Astro Boy, leading up to his creation.
