A prolonged struggle for power among three generations of shoguns in the Keichou era reached its peak in a violent clash between the Kouga and Iga ninja clans. Amidst falling petals, a man and a woman, who had chosen love, were once more torn apart. According to legend, Kyouhachirou, the adopted son of Hattori Hanzo, reunited them, leaving behind two children as mementos. These children, Kouga Hachirou and Iga Hibiki, each bore the eye color of their respective parent. By the Kan'ei era, peace had settled over the land, and ninja were fading from relevance.
