A detective known for his intelligence, sharp observational skills, physical fitness, and relentless work ethic is shot in the head by a killer while investigating a murder. He nearly dies but survives with the bullet still inside his skull. After recovering, he is called to another murder scene and encounters a grieving boy only he can see, who is later revealed to be the victim. It appears that the injury has given him the ability to communicate with the deceased.
