In 2008, Takumi Nishijou, a student at Suimei Academy in Shibuya, becomes entangled in unusual occurrences dubbed "New Generation events." On September 7th, five students died by jumping from a tall building, and on September 19th, a man was discovered dead with a fetus embedded in his abdomen. On September 28th, Takumi discusses these incidents with an online acquaintance named Grim, who fills him in as he avoids news consumption. A user named Shōgun enters their chat but remains silent until Grim leaves, then sends Takumi disturbing images of a violent death. The next day, Takumi encounters the same scene in person while returning home from an internet café. He flees the site in terror after meeting a bloodied girl with pink hair in a Suimei Academy uniform. As events unfold, Takumi attempts to stay distant from Shōgun and the New Generation events, though he is increasingly drawn into a larger, unfolding mystery.
