Ginga Teikoku Kouboushi

A young mathematician named Gaal Dornick travels to Trantor, the capital of a 12,000-year-old galactic empire, to meet Hari Seldon, who has developed psychohistory—a discipline blending history, sociology, and statistics to predict the future of large populations. Shortly after Gaal's arrival, both he and Seldon are arrested for treason. Seldon has forecast the empire's collapse in 500 years, followed by a 30,000-year dark age, which he believes can only be reduced to 1,000 years through his methods. The empire's leaders respond by exiling Seldon, Gaal, and others to the distant planet Terminus. There, they begin the Foundation, tasked with following Seldon's plan to guide humanity through the empire's decline and into a better future.
