MAO

Nanoka enters a portal that transports her to the Taisho era, where she is saved from a monstrous yokai by the reluctant exorcist Mao. After returning to the present, she gains unexpected and powerful abilities. Seeking answers, she goes back to the past but becomes entangled in Mao’s investigation into a string of violent deaths. As she uncovers more about herself, she learns that Mao is bound by a curse from a cat demon named Byoki, which also affects his sword. Anyone other than Mao who uses the weapon faces certain death. When Mao is in danger, Nanoka takes up the sword and uses it.
