During an entrance interview for Seinagi Private High School, Kuzumi Taiga, when asked what he would do if he had magical abilities, jokingly answers that he would take over the world. A female interviewer laughs at his response. He is later rejected from the school, though he cannot remember much after the interview, only recalling the girl and suspecting she played a role in his rejection. The next day, he attempts to reenter the school but is stopped by an invisible barrier. Mistaking him for a student skipping class, a teacher named Mr. Hiiragi pulls him through the barrier into the school. It is then revealed that the school is a magic academy, and Kuzumi, despite being pulled inside, has no magical ability.
