Natsu ni Mebuku wa Koi no Oto

During the second year of high school, a new student named Yamauchi joins the narrator's class. Though he seems like a regular student, he is notably withdrawn. The narrator tries to help him connect with others but fails repeatedly. Eventually, Yamauchi surprises the narrator by smiling, which leaves a strong impression. The narrator becomes preoccupied with the moment and later asks Yamauchi to smile again.
