A girl is kept isolated by her parents, who blindfold her to prevent her from recognizing her surroundings. Her mouth is covered, and her ears blocked to silence her and prevent her from hearing anything. She is not allowed to smile, as this is believed to encourage dreams and desires. Her mother created her with the intention that she would take on all of her mother's transgressions.
