Ushio to Tora

A boy named Ushio Aotsuki lives near a Shinto temple in Japan, where his family has served for generations. A tiger-like creature named Tora, sealed beneath a rock by Ushio’s samurai ancestor 500 years ago, is accidentally freed when Ushio disturbs the site. Tora is bound by a sacred spear, the "Beast Spear," which grants the user the martial skills of the ancestor who wielded it. At first, Ushio refuses to remove the spear, but Tora’s release draws other supernatural creatures to challenge him. To survive, Ushio is forced to free Tora, who wants to eat him but cannot while the spear remains nearby. The story follows their uneasy partnership as they face various mythical enemies, while Tora struggles to adapt to the modern world.
