An orphan living with his aunt, Chuuta Kokonose has heard a voice in his head since childhood but otherwise leads a normal life. One day, a strange entity follows him home and transports him to a space police station populated by unusual beings. Rein Brickke, head of the Solar System Department, informs him that a computer has selected him as a potential recruit. Misuzu Sonokata, a classmate and one of Rein's subordinates, doubts his suitability. Initially shocked, Chuuta decides to take an aptitude test after encouragement from the voice in his head and to challenge Misuzu's opinion.
