  Legendary Start!

  The episode starts at the back of the Dragon Bird, warming up to race. The F-Zero announcer announces that the Grand Prix is about to begin. Jody's voice is heard saying that the team must win, to stop the space pirates and to not try anything crazy. Rick asks how crazy with Jack Levin responding that Wheeler is crazy. The race then starts. Rick's engine power then gets in the green as he boosts forward into the lead, with Captain Falcon and Jack doing the same. The Big Fang, driven by Bio Rex sneaks up behind the Dragon Bird and bumping into it, with the Dragon Bird doing the same back that makes the Big Fang crash. Rick then says he's dealt with racers like that 150 years ago as a flashback happens. The flashback shows a drag race car as it crosses the finish line. The racer gets out and takes off his helmet, revealing to be Rick. People then start to crowd him and a girl offers him flowers. The girl, revealing to be Misaki Haruka, grabs ahold of Rick's hand as he lets her stand on his car. He's now the Big Apple Grand Prix Champion for the second year in a row of 2051! The scene then changes to show Misaki waiting near a park for Rick. She then calls him and asks him if he's playing hard to get. Rick replies saying he'll be there soon and the connection is then lost. Rick wonders how the connection is lost and then says that Misaki won't care. He then opens a small box, revealing to be an engagement ring. Suddenly, his reverie of an engagement was interrupted as he heard an announcement on his radio, saying there's an escaped convict, armed and extremely dangerous, heading for the Brooklyn Bridge. Rick recognized him as Zoda racing away in a stolen brown sedan. He goes on the pursuit, dropping the box. Through the alleyways, a couple cruisers give way revealing Rick. He mentions he's insane, the maniac thinks he'll be crazy enough to catch him. Zoda snickers he wins the door prize, shoots off the hinges and kicks the door toward Rick's windshield. As he sharply turned a corner, Rick was then shocked to see a slab head straight toward him, then shatter his windshield, covering him in lethal lacerations. Just seconds, Rick saw Haruka's smiling face, he remembered her, but he blacked out. He remained in a capsule covered in frost for 150 years. In a Mute City lab, John Tanaka feels skeptical reviving someone from cold sleep, as the Task Force would get in trouble from The Commissioner. Dr. Stewart knows it won't be easy, and Jody Summer went beside him. John was still paranoid and the doc recommended him to stay in the capsule as a cover-up, to which he refused. The medico proceeded on reviving Rick and minutes later, he awakened unscathed. Dr. Stewart pointed out the pile of clothes he was wearing before he went into cold sleep, though he finds another set of clothing a bit more up-to-date. Rick looked at him quizzically, then Jody introduced herself as the leader of the Elite Mobiel Task Force; she's glad he's back, Dr. Stewart said it was touch and go. He examined himself and he turned out alright. He went for the engagement ring and gazed at it, then he stormed out as he grabbed the "wrong clothes with him," as he wanted to see someone. This began his cultural shock, as doc explained he's been in cold sleep for 150 years, and Jody said he's in Mute City formerly known as New York. He wondered how he slept for so long. Then Jack approached, thinking he'd missed his wake-up call. Doc offered him to show Rick the sights, but he refused, and Rick nearly knocked him over. Meanwhile, Dr. Clash applauded himself on making his greatest creation, the Dragon Bird! Thinking it was an upgraded version of his destroyed cruiser, Rick demanded for the key, then he took off, not knowing how to use a highly-advanced F-Zero machine. Jack scolded he can't drive it since his license expired 149 years ago. He drove out of the base and into a busy street, gazing at the new buildings and lifeforms, thinking he's in cold sleep and it's just a nightmare. His machine began to lose power then he took the streets to Brooklyn, a location he recognized. At Memory Park, he met up with a woman who wasn't Haruka like he thought, he gazed at the ring again then Jack mocked if he wants to try it on. He guessed Rick'd be there as it's a pretty spot with pretty girls like in his day, just like those who're 150. Rick may be old, but old enough Jack's a selfish brat; even if people did, they won't care since Jack bragged he's an F-Zero superstar. He then showed him to the hottest club in the city and watch the ladies lose it! They got Jack's attention, though they quickly gathered around Rick as he's a new face in the competition. Though Rick stormed out, and Jack was impressed he won't have that kind of attention if he's 175; which was an error since Rick's technically 173 since he was 23 when he crashed. Jack then intimidated Rick he doesn't have what it takes to pilot the Dragon Bird, even though Rick defended he's been racing before his great-great-grandpa was born. Jack then challenged him to a race on a desolate circuit, and the winner takes the Dragon Bird. Rick starts the engines as he calls out the pretty boy! As the crossed over the white line, the race was on. Rick's machine began to lose power again as it left the green zone. The Astro Robin sped ahead, then Rick used his Booster and never let up! He lost control, even as he got into a sharp curve, resulting in a huge wreck! Rick was injured and the Bird was smoking. Though Jack demanded Rick to fix the thing before he should give it to him. Little did he knew that Jody watched the ordeal. At the garage, Rick heard an alarm and ran out to see a more monstrous form of his old nemesis; even he survived after 150 years, his face was different but his laugh was the same as he reveled in his destruction. Jody pointed out that Zoda and his gang struck again, and they must stop him. She asked where Rick was, Jack answered he's fixing the Dragon Bird. Dr. Stewart queried what's wrong with it, then Levin lied that it was too much of a machine and that Jack should use it instead. Although, Rick wasn't backing down; in his new attire he said he's going with him and taking the machine. Jack said they had a bet, but Rick stated the bet's off. Now that the quarrel was settled, Jody ordered them to get moving. As the flashback ended, Rick was still in his cockpit racing. "That was the day when I joined the F-Zero team.   Captain Falcon

  Jack Levin is racing Rick Wheeler on a few practice laps to help him get acquainted with his machine, with Jody Summer and Dr. Clash offering advice over the communicator, but the newcomer's having a hard time deciding when to overtake. He finally speeds up and gets the lead, but failed to notice the corner up ahead. He tries to make a sharp turn, but hits the barrier at full speed and crashes...though Jack remarks this isn't the first time that's happened. The Galaxy Mobile Platoon race to the track and get him out of his vehicle to safety; Jody thinks he may not be skilled enough if he keeps crashing! Clash fixes the Dragon Bird back in the hangar, while Jack gripes about all the attention Rick's getting. He's not even that good! Clash suggests he's envious of the attention Jody's giving him. Jack disagrees, even literally giving him the boot. Mr. EAD declares there's an emergency as Director Tanaka summoned Jody to his office, and expresses concern over Rick's performance, but Jody is adamant that he'll improve if given time. If not, they can take it out on her, and since The Chief found out the capsule's empty they can fire Tanaka. However, Jody shouts she'll take the fall, putting Jack and EAD on edge. Planet Nintae/Nidon Planet Alcatrand Rick is summoned to the main room and given a bit of a catch-up: five years ago, a cold sleep facility for dangerous criminals on planet Alcatrand was broken into by Black Shadow. His robot troops wiped out the guards and got a hold of the pods, and used the break-in to reawaken Zoda. Their ultimate goal? Conquering the universe. Zoda is now using the prize money from F-Zero races to fund his criminal operations, and that's why it's vitally important the Platoon beat them to the finish line. Jody hopes Zoda is enough to make Rick rise to the occasion; EAD has faith in him, but Jack doubts this human relic has any skill left in him. Rick leaves and returns to the test track, but visions of Zoda cloud his focus. He practices 'til morning, running the corners again and again, using his tried-and-true method to handling them, but has little luck. He visits his favourite café, the Falcon House, and the owner, Burt, noticed he was exhausted, so he gave him a black coffee, triple caf. Rick thought Mute City's a tough place to live, even tougher than when he started out. Burt asked how long it's been, and he was shocked it's been 150 years. He overhears a group of girls gossiping about Jack Levin who are going to see his next race; Rick was surprised they're going to another planet! Burt mentions he'll be going too; F-Zero appeals to all age groups, it's the ultimate game of skill! He was once an F-Zero pilot, but an accident during a hair-pin turn ended his career: he cornered too much going into the turn and since then he lost interest. The machines of today are littered in safety features, so one doesn't need to counter-steer as harshly... something Rick realises he's been falling victim to. The girls are impressed by Burt's racing knowledge, and he continues by commenting he's made the Falcon House honoring the elitist, Captain Falcon and his machine, the Blue Falcon. He also mentions there's a lot of bad eggs in the business; as a gang races by, one girl comments the universe is full of bad eggs, and wishes there were more good folk to stand up to them. That put Rick in a state of determination. Back at the base, Jody is briefing the Platoon on their next race on planet Nintese/Nintae, only for Rick to barge in; nobody told him about this meeting! Jack and Jody are quick to tell him he's a crappy pilot who'd crash at the first opportunity (EAD is there to lend sympathy, though). He told them he figured out what he did wrong, then Doc said whatever Jody says goes. Rick offers to race, but Jody tells him he's on standby until he's ready to join their operations with more training. And that's an order. That put Jack in glee as Rick was defeated in the argument. He adjourns to the lakeside park to watch the ships go by. He thinks back to the time he and Haruka fed seagulls on the bow of a cruise ship, and how much fun they had. But that's all gone now. While driving back, he sees a bus carrying the girls he met earlier go the other way, and a crowd of noisy hooligans following after. The bus is on its way to the race: taking a road leading up to the sky and towards the stars, it leads them across a space bridge, before entering the warp gate, taking them to their destination at Planet Nntae. One of the girls gushes over how exciting the event is going to be, all the thrills and spills, the whizzes and hums of a passion-filled race...though things aren't so chipper on the other side: those punks are attacking the bus! This is reported over the police radio, and Jack is eager to rush out and stop them, though the Galaxy Mobile Platoon declare it's none of their business. They're there to win the race, and that's more important. Unfortunately, those thugs are packing heat, putting the pursuing police cars out of commission... But it's a good thing Rick Wheeler's on their trail! A blast from a rocket launcher damages the bus and forces it to stop, but Rick gets between it and the thugs, stepping out and introducing himself: he's from the Galaxy Mobile Platoon, and these hooligans are under arrest. That doesn't scare them, and they create a ring around the bus, taking aim with another rocket...only for a mysterious blue vehicle to show up. It's Captain Falcon! The punks scarper away. The girls squeal their love for Falcon, and the good Captain exits as suddenly as he came, but not without some words to Rick: "See you at the race." The racers have lined up at the starting grid, awaiting the countdown, as the Task Force pilots line up. Rick joins the grid just seconds before the race begins... And they're off! Rick streaks ahead of Clash and EAD, surprising the Platoon; he demands they gave him a chance on this mission, and Jack is quick to test him: there's a corner up ahead! Ryu reflects on what Burt told him about counter-steering, and through his determination to defeat Zoda, he sails across the corner with ease, nicking a boost pad to get ahead of Jack. Rick takes the lead on the first lap! Jack isn't taking this sitting down; Rick may have gotten lap one, but he'll be the one taking first place. As if to spite him, a new contender approaches: Captain Falcon! The Dragon Bird and Blue Falcon hit a boost pad, sailing ahead of the Astro Robin. Jack hits his booster to catch up, but the burst of speed sends him flying when there's a drop in the track, sending his vehicle crashing and burning. Captain Falcon takes first place, Rick takes second, but he rushes to Jack's wreck as soon as he can. Jody reprimands Rick he not only disobeyed her order, but his actions caused the injury of a fellow pilot, as pointed out by Dr. Stewart. Jack actually explains his sabotage - the device allegedly sapped power from Rick's machine, and was also responsible for his crash during the practice run. Rick socks him and storms off. While Jack is taken away in the ambulance, the group grumble about the ill-will that's been going on between them, though Jody remarks Jack was wrong about the accident. She later visits him at the hospital, where the nurses can't get enough of his boy-idol charms. Jody speaks to him alone, and believes he let Rick win. Jack insists he just didn't want Captain Falcon to take home the prize money, but Jody returns the piece he allegedly took from the Dragon Bird: It turns out to be a headlight fuse from the Astro Robin, and that he lied to get Rick out of trouble. Jody thanks him for giving Rick confidence, though, and leaves. Rick returns to base to find someone waiting for him: Lucy Liberty, one of the F-Zero fans he saved on the bus. She was impressed by Rick's actions both on and off the race track, she's decided to join the Galaxy Mobile Platoon much to his surprise since there'd be two rookies in the squad!   Apprentice Trooper Lucy

  While Lucy runs some practice laps on the track on planet Clifoto, Jody and Stewart fill the others in on the potential dangers during the race: it's a popular track so the prize money will be huge, but the planet is extremely hot, so making sure their engines don't overheat is crucial. And this has nothing to do with Fire Field. Lucy finishes her practice and brings her own recordings to the table: they'll want to keep their power gauge within the green to avoid burning out, and spend it on speed for the final lap. Jody introduces her to the rest of the team, and due to her mechanical expertise, she'll be serving as Clash's apprentice. Planet Clifoto Rick heads out for a bit of practice while the rest study how his machine behaves: at the moment the temperature's not too bad, but it could rise when the real race begins. Lucy reminds everyone that the coolant doesn't work effectively in high temperatures, so avoid boosting where it's hottest. EAD's attention lies elsewhere: there's an unknown racer following Rick The mysterious pilot is Baba, the pilot of the Iron Tiger and he's been sent by Zoda to keep a close eye on Rick after his near-victory last time. Zoda is in no rush to act just yet, but if Rick ever becomes a bother, he'll think of something to put him in his place. He returns to the hangar drained from the heat, only for Jack to swoop in and gloat over what an easy race this is going to be. Rick's keen to challenge him, especially after Clash's new modifications to the Dragon Bird, but his practice has left him exhausted; he's in no condition to race. Lucy offers to try it in his stead, and record her findings when she's done. Everyone is surprised by the suggestion, though Rick is the only one to object. Lucy hops in the Dragon Bird and is out on the track before he can stop her. She's excited to be handling a machine with more power behind it, though Rick tries to implore her to return as he claims he's better...but it's no use, the heat must be affecting the transmissions. While sitting in on the F-Zero Committee meeting, Jody and Stewart catch footage of the Dragon Bird driving wildly on the track - Lucy's having difficulty adapting to how Rick's machine handles. She approaches Baba's Iron Tiger from behind, who's in no mood to race, and slows down to let her pass...but upon seeing who's behind the wheel, can't stand the thought of being beaten by her. He catches up and begins boxing the Dragon Bird in against the wall; Rick borrows Jack's Astro Robin to get close to the action. Lucy tries accelerating to escape, but the machine grows unstable once it rises above green, and has to slow again. Rick tries to tell her she can't handle the Dragon Bird's power, but the radios are still malfunctioning. Refusing to lose to this racer and eager to prove herself a member of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon, she hits the booster, but the Dragon Bird grinds the walls before hurling right off the track, crashing onto the rocks below. Rick catches up to her and brings her back to base, and she eventually wakes up mostly unharmed. She explains she was eager to impress the group, and they're just happy she didn't injure herself. The Dragon Bird is pretty banged up, though. Jody enters, angry for the colossal screw-up out on the track; Lucy tries to explain, but is told this doesn't concern her, and if she interrupts she'll be an ex-trainee. What's worse, they've learnt that Zoda has signed up for the race, but if Rick's machine is out of commission, he's missed his chance to get even. This strikes a nerve in the pilot; he has to confront Zoda. He storms into the exhibition area shouting his name, desperate to find the man who killed him 150 years ago. He's just about to climb onto the track before Jack pulls him down. What use is he to the Platoon if he should wind up back in cold sleep again? Jody, Jack, Stewart and EAD retire to the mess room for a bite to eat, a trifle upset about the situation with Rick. They hope he's cooling down from his outburst...but realizing he's not at the table getting his meal, they worry that he's up to something foolish. While Clash is busy fixing up the Dragon Bird, Lucy apologizes for pushing it too hard, but the mechanic's not concerned about that: they're going to be up all night repairing this thing, so they've gotta put their backs into it! Rick returns to lend a hand, and the others find him shortly after, sympathizing with Lucy he would've done the same trying to impress the members of the force, as he has done so previously. Jody looks like she's about to clobber Rick as Dr. Stewart warned of her temper...but she's there to also offer her support. If they all pitch in, the Dragon Bird will be fixed in no time! Clash joked, "Now we can all play mechanic!" Baba reports in to Zoda's garage, telling him the woman isn't worth worrying about. Zoda reminds him there's plenty of other skilled pilots taking part, and if they're even remotely troublesome, he wants them taken out. He approaches his machine to find a warning light in the cockpit; he was alarmed something's wrong with his machine, Baba tells him he's been having trouble getting enough parts to finish building it. Zoda points his gun at him...and fires, blasting apart the robot behind him. "Now you've got plenty of spare parts." The Platoon finally finish fixing up the Dragon Bird in time for the race, and Lucy is praised for her hard work; they wouldn't have finished it so quickly without her. The starting grid slowly fills with racers, with all of the Platoon bar Jody, Clash and Lucy taking part. Rick sees Zoda's machine for the first time: the Death Anchor. There's no way he's going to lose to him. "Watch out, Zoda. Here I come." The race begins, and Zoda is quick to make his mark by crushing another machine against the barriers. Rick zooms after him, eager to settle his score, but the Death Anchor boosts ahead, leaving them in the dust. Jack boosts after him, but Rick feels his engine isn't up to the pursuit, and hangs back for the time being. By the end of the first lap, Jack's engine temperature is at critical; if he pushes it any further, it's in danger of exploding! Zoda begins playing with his prey, circling the Astro Robin before getting right behind it and boosting: the Death Anchor zooms right through, leaving the Astro Robin as nothing but scrap. Jack parachuted out to safety just in time, but this race is in Rick's hands now. He begins to notice something within the Dragon Bird, and realizes it must be Lucy's handiwork as it kept losing speed: noticing the slowdown, she found steering the machine got increasingly difficult at high speeds, but by reducing the thrust just a little, she's given it overall superior steering at all speeds. Dr. Clash figured it was necessary to defeat Zoda, so this is just what Rick needs, and he's right on his tail! Fearing his machine is overheating, Zoda slows down to let it mellow...giving Rick a chance to slow down while in front of him, twisting his machine to batter the Death Anchor clean off the track. He follows after him. With the two leading racers now off the track, Dr. Stewart's Golden Fox and Baba's Iron Tiger are competing for first place. The two put all their power into the boosters for the final stretch, going neck and neck...but it's the Golden Fox that crosses the finish line first. You're never going to beat an A-class booster, pal. On the rocks below, the Death Anchor is a flaming wreck, but Zoda himself is unscathed and up for a scrap. Rick was shocked at the spectacle as well, but was never shaken. Zoda said he's glad to have the chance to beat him, to which he responded, "Zoda? I've waited 150 years. For this!" He lands a few solid blows on him but it doesn't seem to slow him down any. As the smoke on the wreck thickens, Zoda uses it to make his escape, vowing to meet Rick again at the next race, loser! Rick screams his accursed name afterwards. After the race, the group return to the police headquarters. Lucy meets up with Jody, thinking she was in trouble again. Instead, she's fully inaugurated into the Galaxy Mobile Platoon. She's offered the choice to return to her ordinary life if it's too difficult, but she wouldn't want anything less.   Calling on Samurai Goroh!

  Rick sets the Dragon Bird's destination to planet Cryton, directing him to the nearest warp gate. After winning his last race he met a young fan in a wheelchair, Alias, and signed his F-Zero toy for him - but there's business concerning the boy on planet Cryton. Rick turns down an alley, where a portable warp gate triggers and takes his machine to his destination. On Cryton, he drives through the streets of the nearest town, which are run-down and lined with skeezy-looking hoodlums. A wretched hive of scum and villainy. It's no wonder the police don't visit these parts. Parking his machine, he steps out to begin his investigation. He steps into a saloon... WHEN A KNIFE COMES FLYING RIGHT AT HIM! Rick, being a totally sweet action hero, kicks it out of the air and hurls it back, narrowly missing the attacker's head. "You should practice more." Another two punks get in his road, but while barging passed them he slips on a banana peel and hits the ground head-first, disturbing a man's drink. A young girl also enters the bar and the two of them approach the counter, announcing they're looking for someone - Samurai Goroh! Everyone's head turns, even Rick's and the girl's. The bartender doesn't have any Samurai Gorohs on the menu... But Rick explains: Samurai Goroh and his men attacked a transport vessel stealing gold and a valuable diamond, but more importantly, rare medicine that was to be delivered to gravely ill children. A convenient news broadcast spells out that if the children don't get the medicine within three days, they're never going to get better. The girl, meanwhile, explains that the rare diamond is a keepsake of her mother's. She has stacks of other diamonds, but that one is very important to her: she must see Samurai Goroh! Rick leaves while a gang approach the girl to tell her they can bring her to see Samurai Goroh personally. She eagerly joins them. Rick searches the town, hitting up every small-town joint he can find. Market stalls, video arcades, mechanics' garages, fortune tellers, kids on the street... None of them can point him to Samurai Goroh's whereabouts. Just when Rick thinks he's out of luck, he's stopped on the street by the punk who nearly impaled him, who claims to know where Samurai Goroh is. He won't share his information, though, until he beats his entire gang! The five punks attack, but Rick swiftly dodges and delivers each of them a thump on the face in return. Two more knives are thrown his way, but not only is Rick awesome enough to repeat his kick deflect, the knives fly back and pin the attacker's sleeves to the ground. He stoops down to begin interrogating this guy--only to get knocked on the head with a barrel. An unseen sixth attacker leaps down from the roof and raises his gun to fire, only for another mystery contender to charge in! Before the punk can fire, his blaster is sliced in half with a single slash of a katana. The group all charge at the intruder, their weapons raised, but the swordsman merely swings his sword, stopping them in their tracks. By the time he sheathes his blade, their clothes fall to ribbons. Humiliated, the gang run away crying, abandoning whatever dignity was left. Rick thanks the mystery savior and is about to continue searching, but is stopped: this guy knows where Samurai Goroh is. Meanwhile at the Galaxy Mobile Platoon's headquarters, Clash has modified his Crazy Bear so its power is one thousand times more powerful! It doesn't work. Jack throttles him over his incessant failure; Clash reasons that failure is always one small step towards success, but Jack thrashes him further over his subpar success rate. Jody enters and asks where Rick is, only for Lucy to let it slip that he's out searching for the stolen medicine. The two of them had been visiting Alias in hospital a while back, bringing toys of their F-Zero racers for him. Rick's spent plenty of time lying in a lonely hospital bed, but the fear these children have must be greater than anything he's ever experienced; he worries they might not be alive the next time he visits. Alias said he wanted to grow up to be an F-Zero pilot just like him when he gets well again, and despite his mother's quiet sobbing, Rick assured him he'd get better in no time. Thinking back on it now, sleeping at the campfire on planet Cryton, he wonders if he even believes what he said. Rick is woken the next morning by his comrade, alerting him to a transport vehicle passing into the cave beneath their campsite; following its trail will lead them straight to Goroh. The vehicle belongs to the red-clad gang, who've made a pitstop to rob a fruit warehouse... not something they planned to do, but the girl did ask politely. As they leave the warehouse, the girl has eaten all the food already. Rick and his friend follow in their F-Zero machines, and the gang quickly realize they're being followed, recognizing them from the bar. Two of the gang members run to the cannons and begin the slow process of manually aiming them in an old-fashioned machine...only for the girl to suddenly fall at their feet, banging their faces into the periscopes and causing the shots to miss; she says she feels sick, and looks ready to barf. The cannons keep firing, but this doesn't scare Rick and company, and they stay hot on their trail. The chase leads them to a narrow mountainside road, with no barrier stopping them from falling off the edge. The gang put their cannons to good use and open fire on the cliff wall, causing a rockslide! Rick narrowly evades it with a boost, but his ally is not so lucky, his machine disappearing over the side with the rest of the debris. Rick launches his tow cable and grabs the machine in the nick of time, pulling it back onto the road safely. Now they're even. Rick gets up on the inside and begins ramming the machine, its cannon unable to aim at close-range targets, while pushing it towards the edge. His ally reminds him not to get too violent; they're still looking for Samurai Goroh, after all. He fires a smoke bomb through the passenger window to blind the drivers, and the vehicle screeches to a halt. Suddenly, a mortar is launched from behind! Rick narrowly avoids it, but his machine is thrown about by the impact. A new batch of thugs in an armored vehicle approaches from behind to assist the gang, and fires a missile towards the other F-Zero machine, but the pilot unsheathes his sword and strikes, cleaving the missile neatly in two. Surprised but no less determined, the vehicle ploughs forward, prepared to run him down instead. A single swing of his blade slices the entire roof off. The other vehicle has scarpered, but these two will do just fine leading Rick and his buddy to who they're after. Meanwhile, that vehicle has finally brought the girl to the hideout of the man she's after: Samurai Goroh! The criminal agrees to return her mother's diamond, and because he's such a swell guy, he's only taking all her other diamonds in exchange. The two other underlings finally arrive, warning their boss, Vidion, that they've got trouble: Rick and that other bozo are here! He demands the medicine back, but before he can belt them one, a cage falls from the ceiling and traps him, and his friend too. The crook is ready to walk away with his takings, but the girl wraps a whip around his face: his career as a criminal impersonator is over. The mysterious swordsman busts apart his cage with an effortless swing of his blade; Vidion asks who is this guy. He finally answers he IS Samurai Goroh! The gang are shocked! The girl also reveals her identity: she's Sasuke, and she's been in cahoots with him the entire time. Samurai Goroh is a trifle upset that this nogoodnik, Vidion, has given him a bad name, and demands an apology. He responds by activating the self destruct causing the place to fall apart; Goroh breaks Rick out of his cage and narrowly saves him from a falling pillar. Vidiion's ship rises out of the ground as he prepares to escape; once he's out of here, he'll truly be the only Samurai Goroh! Sasuke tires of that plot and lets loose into the ship with a rocket launcher, delaying them long enough for the true finisher: Samurai Goroh slicing the whole freaking ship in half. Rick suddenly remembers the medicine! He runs to grab it, but a sword is drawn at his neck. Goroh's sword. He is a pirate, after all. As the whole hideout falls to pieces, Rick is left tied up outside beside his Dragon Bird. He curses Samurai Goroh's name as he watches him and Sasuke drive away with the goods. Sasuke remotely loosens the ropes once they're far away enough, and Rick rushes to the cockpit, desperate to hunt them down and reclaim the medicine, only to find a small canister on his roof, containing two samples of medicine. Maybe Samurai Goroh isn't such a bad guy after all..? Back in Mute City, Jody, Lucy and Rick are present to see Alias healthy enough to stand on his feet again. They're pleased that his efforts were worthwhile, but he did abandon his post, which can only mean one punishment: cleaning duty.   Brilliant Trap!

  Jack Levin is sailing to victory in his latest F-Zero race; he weaves between opponents, drifts effortlessly around the corners, and is hitting every boost pad there is. One woman in the audience is watching him with interest, but in the heat of the moment, Jack only hopes that Rick sees how sweet his skills are. He was watching all right; his arm brace is what kept him out of today's competition. The previous night he found a group of hoodlums vandalizing his Dragon Bird outside a dance club, and set out to stop them (with violence, no less). All was going well until he took a staff blow to his arm, knocking him to the ground, winded. The group were about to dismantle his machine, but the sound of police sirens prompted them to beat feet instead. He might not have his health, but at least he still has his car. Jack is in the final stretch, but Octoman and Bio Rex are there to hinder him: the Deep Claw blocks him from the front, while the Big Fang rams him from behind. Fortunately, Jody and the Galaxy Mobile Platoon are there to help out; he's got a race to win! EAD and Clash knock the opposition aside, giving Jack's Astro Robin the chance to boost straight passed the finish line. And the crowd goes wild! The woman in the audience smiles. Rick is keen to visit the winner and congratulate him personally, but Lucy forfeited her spot in the race to look after him. There's no way he's going out with his arm in that condition. Jack is praising himself to the ends of the earth, claiming he's the only driver the Platoon needs...though the others gently remind him he wouldn't have won were it not for their help. He doesn't take this well, especially when the others decline his offer of a celebration party, and storms off. Well, he doesn't need them! Superstar Jack Levin can have a grand time all by himself! He drives to a quiet dance club and orders a banana juice, boasting that as an F-Zero pilot, he only consumes what's good for him. The woman sitting next to him recognizes him from the race. She's a huge fan of Jack's, and is disappointed to hear he's celebrating alone tonight. After introducing herself, Lisa and Jack decide to make the evening theirs. They share a drink and play some pool together, while Lisa queries him on his F-Zero machine; she'd love to see it. He offers to take her for a drive, but she has one last ball to shoot...right into Jack's cranium. Knocking him out cold, she snatches his key and hops in the Astro Robin, taking it out for a spin. She looks through his preset destinations, and is amused to find most of them are women's names. She picks one that interests her and finds the machine driving her towards the police station! She's a trifle confused as to why superstar F-Zero pilot Jack Levin would have business with the popo, but doubly confused where inside the police station it's taking her. Once it finally stops, she gets out to investigate. Lisa finds herself in the hangar, and identifies most of the machines from this morning's race. Using Jack's key to gain access to the hallways, she stumbles upon a wall of F-Zero trophies, and deduces that not only have these machines had great success, they're all in collusion with the police. Interesting. Perhaps more interesting, she finds a stockpile of jewels, presumably the police's salary. She grabs the lot and stows it in the Astro Robin, but hears a noise unexpectedly: It's a drowsy Clash, and he wants to know who she is and what she's doing here! One punch puts him to sleep, but before she leaves, she has one last order of business: gunning the entire roster of machines, busting their windscreens and damaging their hulls. She hops back in the Astro Robin and peels out. The Platoon discover one fine mess in the morning, and John Tanaka is close to crying: this'll cost a fortune to repair, but money can't heal their humiliation! Jody vows to catch whoever is responsible, though this doesn't appease Tanaka; they get the easy job, while he's the one who's got to explain this to the chief! Rick enters and removes his arm brace: they can count on his help. Jack, meanwhile, is pleading to lend his support, but Jody reminds him his slip-up lost his machine and exposed the Galaxy Mobile Platoon's existence; it probably won't be the last time a woman gets one over on him. Rick tries to stand up for him, but Jody orders Jack to leave the Platoon: he's got no business working with them. Levin leaves in a huff. The Platoon begin exploring the city; Stewart looking down from the highways while Rick trawls the streets, remembering what Jody said. Jack makes his own personal investigation, and revisits the dance club to ask if anyone knows a Lisa around these parts. A gang of punks threaten Jack with a staff; if he wants what's best for him, he'll pretend Lisa never exists. Rick enters and recognizes the gang as the hoodlums who busted his arm. Jack demands to know if they're in league with Lisa, but they make a hasty exit with a smoke bomb. Back at headquarters, the Platoon look over a F-Zero machine that's been registered: it looks like the Astro Robin, though its deco is cutesy and pastel. Jody deduces it must have been stolen for use in High-Jump, a race course with a colossal cash prize. Her machine isn't powerful enough to keep up, so she's counting on Rick and Stewart to pursue it. If they can't catch the Astro Robin...they'll have to destroy it! Rick almost lost his Dragon Bird to those punks back when he got injured. He wouldn't want to trash Jack's treasured racer in the name of justice. Stewart gives him a spiel about injustice being like a disease that they cannot cure, but only remove what they can. But if they get Jack's machine back, Rick believes Jody should let him back to the squad. The doctor reminds him his arm is still tender and in no shape to race...but if they make a few modifications to his machine... Clash sets to work making adjustments on the Dragon Bird, vowing to keep it hush-hush from Jody. With his skill and the doctor's wisdom, this race will be a piece of cake. Jack, meanwhile, is moping on the side of the test track; he's despondent without his Astro Robin, and tells Rick he can think of nothing but revenge. He's told he can still participate. But how? A second seat! Rick can't do it alone, and Jack's machine handling is second to none; if they partner up, they can take on that thief. The race on High-Jump is about to start, and the announcer, Mr. Zero, is filling the audience on all the thrills and spills the racers will have to endure. Lining up on the grid, Jack gets an eyeful of the Astro Robin's new paint job, making him angrier than ever. He's got to win this. And they're off! Rick accelerates and Jack steers, but Lisa is quick to cut them off to prevent them from overtaking. This'll be a tough one. A feature of the track gives them an idea: this course features a pitstop on a separate lane, fit for only one vehicle at a time. When they give the signal, they want Dr. Stewart to turn in there. The Dragon Bird and Astro Robin fly over the high jump, still neck and neck with Lisa. Rick asks Jack for advice: if he were driving the Astro Robin, what would he be doing by this point in the race? He admits he'd need to make a quick repair on his machine, and they signal the doctor to hit the pitstop. As expected, they find Lisa making her way to that lane...only to find the Golden Fox parked, blocking the road! She screeches to a halt, and the Dragon Bird pulls up behind, boxing her in. She calmly reminds them this is against the rules, but she's one to talk, having stolen Jack's machine. Lisa snorts; surely they're the ones cheating, working in collusion for the police like that. Jack begins arguing over her choice of color scheme, but Rick tells him to cool off and just book her already. He has one last question to ask, but she's got no time for it: her getaway is here! A machine flies over all three racers and Lisa hops right into the cockpit, driving off and leaving the Platoon in the dust. Try harder next time, the pilot calls after them. That was Samurai Goroh and his Fire Stingray! It only hits Jack now; that Lisa was Lisa Brilliant, Samurai Goroh's wife! What's worse, Jody was watching the whole thing from afar. Jack returns to the police station hangar to offer one last goodbye to the Astro Robin, but the whole Platoon are there to welcome him back. They went through so much trouble getting it back for him, and he's not even going to take it for a spin? Jody orders him to drive it and enjoy it before she suspends him again.   It's a crowded race at Mute City today, and Rick is fighting with Zoda for first place and vengeance. He's acting particularly rash, and Jody tries to call him back before he hurts someone or if he should push the Dragon Bird so hard. The rest of the Platoon agree; he's behaving too dangerously, especially on such a narrow track. That doesn't stop him and he ploughs on ahead after Zoda, forcing Jody to follow after while the rest of the team fall back. She gets on the other side of Zoda while Rick prepares to ram him...but the Death Anchor collides with Jody in the process, sending the White Cat hurling into the wall and flipping over, crashing nose-first into the track. Zoda takes first place, but the Platoon clearly have other concerns. The emergency team rescue Jody from her machine and take her to an ambulance. Jack scolds Rick for being such a reckless pilot; Jody wouldn't be in this condition if he hadn't acted so stupidly! Dr. Stewart is aboard the ambulance with Jody, and despite her injuries, her number one concern is arresting Zoda. Not to worry, there's a police blockade out to stop him before he reaches the warp gate. Unfortunately...that blockade is helmed by John Tanaka. Zoda and his entourage do show up, and they do escape the authorities, but not through Tanaka's doing - Zoda calls a flying battle station to open fire on the police, destroying their cars and dispersing the officers. Tanaka returns to headquarters to find Jack calling Rick on his big blunder: not only are Lucy and Clash working overtime trying to fix what's left of Jody's machine, but the Platoon had petitioned a huge cash prize for the last race in an attempt to lure out their foes - and now look where that's gotten them! Rick said he screwed up big time, which admired Jack since he's not afraid to admit. Well, there's nothing they can do about it now. Tanaka encourages them to practice some more, but Jack and Rick are curious to know where Jody is - he's very coy, saying she's in Dr. Stewart's capable hands. He even backfires on Jack over his demand on where Jody is. Rick visits the Falcon House to wind down, and Burt tells him not to worry too much about Jody; he's got a good feeling about her recovery and it wasn't entirely his fault. He said Rick should tell her how he feels, but he's still uptight about it, though - he already lost one friend to Zoda, he doesn't want to lose another, and all he could think of is him! Just then he receives a call from Dr. Stewart, telling him that Jody is doing fine, but has something important she wants to tell him. Rick makes his way to the location, and it seems to be highly top-secret: there are cameras everywhere and multiple identification points for his car, his key and his eyeballs. At the end of it, he finds laboratories full of work-in-progress robotic bodies. Dr. Stewart welcomes him and introduces him to the facility: this is the Cyborg Graduate School for the Galaxy Police, where he once worked in the field of robotics research before he joined the Task Force. Rick is confused: where is Jody and why has she been taken here, of all places? The doctor shows him: Her body is part-machine! Jody enters and takes it from here. Only Dr. Stewart, her superiors and now Rick know of her condition; she figured it's not something people need to know, but given Rick's connection to Zoda, she explains how she came to be like this... It was three years ago. Jody and her brother, Andy Summer, were both in the police force, and Mute City was almost at peace. However, Black Shadow's criminal organization, Dark Million, still held a reign of terror over the city... The Summer siblings were in a shootout between the police and Dark Million, the criminals packing heavy artillery. Their courage was enough to help them hold their own, until Zoda made a surprise appearance with a handheld rocket launcher aimed right at Jody. With no time to flee, Andy threw himself atop of her sister and shielded her from the blast. It was only through Dr. Stewart's medical prowess that Jody was able to be revived. Her brother was not so lucky. Eager to take down such despicable criminals, she became captain of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon. Rick is even more enraged; if only he had defeated Zoda 150 years ago, the Summers would not have suffered like this! She goes on to tell him that Zoda was not revived just for funsies: when she became captain she looked into the Mute City archives, and Zoda's reputation as the criminal who wrought terror upon New York could not be ignored. Black Shadow no doubt sought him out. The archives also mentioned Rick Wheeler was the man who arrested him; he was not to be revived until the year 2251, but Jody was the one who requested his revival be pushed forward. She believes modern pilots rely too much on their machines, but Rick's driving technique was renowned in his day, and that may be what they needed to stand a chance against Zoda. Outside, Rick wonders why Zoda isn't their number one objective: he's responsible for the loss of his girlfriend and the death of Jody's brother, doesn't she hold a grudge against him? She says she once did, but Zoda is small buttons in the grand scheme of things, as she learned to appreciate the good things in life. And unless they'd take down the leader, Dark Million would still be a threat. Jody reminds him that they are part of a team, and if he won't put it ahead of his revenge, they'd be better off without him; he should never forget that. Meanwhile, Zoda is celebrating his victory with mountains of ice cream and sprinkles, only to be intruded with a surprise transmission from Black Shadow. He reminds him not to get too full of himself, and he should never underestimate his enemies; today's race was a close call. He'd never want Zoda partying since they'd still have work to do. While trawling the hallways, Zoda mutters to himself over what a bossy boots that Black Shadow is. Sure, he granted him his new body, but that doesn't mean he can act like he owns him. Why, if Zoda were in charge--! Miss Killer heard his whole tirade. Zoda mutters once more; what good does the boss see in her anyway? You gotta be a lunatic to trust Luna Ryder! Jody speaks to Dr. Stewart, mentioning planet Alcatrand to him, the prison facility where Zoda was freed from. Stewart says no one's been there, not since Black Shadow totaled the place, but Jody has a good feeling about it. Her White Cat is finally patched up, so she takes it for a spin in that direction. She takes the warp gate to Alcatrand: a frozen tundra of a planet, whipped by a furious wind and totally untouched since Black Shadow's assault on it all that time ago. She set for coordinates, and while all ways were forbidden, she made the Task Force override. Then she steps out and looks inside the dilapidated fortress. Inside are a stack of empty cold sleep pods, the very thing Zoda had been contained within for nearly 150 years. Hoping to find more clues she begins a further investigation, but the ground begins rumbling beneath her...and from the ground rises a Dark Million battle station! Zoda steps out to greet his old antagonist - she's just stumbled upon his secret hideout! Who'd ever think of looking here for him to chill out? Of course, now that she knows, the only thing left to do is kill her and have it frozen in her memory. Bio Rex lunges towards her but gets a blown across the snout in response. Jody is brought to her knees by a group of Death Soldiers, however, but she's in no mood to give up: she demands to be taken to Black Shadow! Zoda is amused, but in no mood to comply. He'd much prefer to blast her face off. It's a good thing Rick is here! Octoman's surprise distracts Zoda long enough for Jody to elbow him in the gut, while the Dragon Bird sends the robots scattering. The villains quickly hop back on their battle station for a quick getaway, but not if Rick can help it! He tries to give chase despite Jody's orders not to, only for it to open fire, and Jody is in its line of fire. He swerves back to protect her and find she's taken a nasty blow to the shoulder already. He immediately took off his coat to cover her. The battle station looms menacingly overhead and rains bullets upon them, Rick protecting Jody with his body; it reminds her of Andy's last noble act. The battle station leaves and the two rise to their feet, mostly uninjured. Jody commends Rick for what he did; he obviously didn't want Zoda to escape, but he did the right thing. He remarks what it was like to simply follow orders for a change. This surprises Jody, so much so that it's the first time Rick has ever seen her smile.   The Trap of Michael Chain

  While waiting for a coffee at Falcon House, Rick listens in to a news broadcast reporting the disappearance of yet another F-Zero pilot, the third one so far. His coffee is delivered by Dream, a new employee at the café; she's a huge fan of Rick and watches all his races with her boyfriend. She wishes him the best for the Mute City Grand Prix, though Burt tells him to be cautious, what with all the kidnappings. Rick does superb during the Grand Prix and is in first place, closely followed by the King Meteor, piloted by Super Arrow. Determined to win, Super Arrow begins spinning his machine, preparing to ram the Dragon Bird right in the rear... He spots this just in time and boosts ahead, leaving the King Meteor to crash right into a wall. He stills makes second place, while the crowd goes wild for Rick's victory, Dream and her boyfriend among them. The Platoon gather to celebrate, and notice he pushed himself extra hard this race, and they want to know why. Jack believes he was trying to impress some hot babe, while EAD thinks it's something he'd rather do. Dr. Stewart theorizes he wanted to goad out whoever's been kidnapping racers. "Whatever happens, happens, I guess," Rick answers, and takes off. On the highway home, Dream and her boyfriend pass Rick in their expensive vintage car, Rick saying it's an antique. But are surrounded by a swarm of uncouth hooligans just as they take the exit. They lead the two of them to the lakeside park and begin banging up their car, dragging the two of them out to rough them up. However, a heroic figure appears just in time... It's Super Arrow! He is the representative of justice and all things good, and he is here to kick their keisters! His dramatic entrance is dampened slightly when he falls off the car roof and onto his bum, requiring his wife Mrs. Arrow to tell him what a great hero he is to boost his confidence. The punks decide these two will be more fun beating the snot out of, and the supposed heroes scream in fright. It's a good thing Rick was following after, or else there'd be no one to save these weirdos. They might have some nasty looking steel pipes, but Rick has the skills to dodge all of their attacks and down each of them in a single blow. And once everyone's tush has scraped the tarmac, the punks deem it wise to make a run for it. Super Arrow's owl critiques his master's skills, while Dream thanks Rick and introduces him to Truman, her boyfriend. Rick tells this to the guys back at headquarters, and knowing they're racers, Truman has invited them all to dinner at his place; they're honored for Dream's birthday, though Lucy is the only one to accept. Super Arrow and Mrs. Arrow are invited as well, and Rick wonders what's the deal with them. Dr. Stewart explains they're a duo of whack jobs who think they're superheroes; they're the ones that put the "zero" in F-Zero. Truman's place is mighty swank indeed, an elaborate mansion staffed by its own servants. He tells them he only met Dream a mere few weeks ago, by accident: he had been injured and left for dead on the streets of Mute City when his car flipped over at a corner, when Dream appeared to revive him. She stayed with him by his hospital bed, and the two have been together since. He calls her his Dream come true. Lucy and Mrs. Arrow are keen to hear Dream's side of it - is she in it for the money? She says no; she wishes only to be with the man she loves, and she needs no other reason. Super Arrow barks that as a superhero he inclines he has a surprise for a certain someone downstairs. Truman hesitates though he does proceed after he looks out a window. Truman invites everyone to the other room to show them something, though Dream is excluded. Super Arrow, being a world class detective, believes it to be a gift for Dream... but it is instead a dank basement with a couple of sofas. The racers pile onto them, expecting something exciting. They're instead trapped behind a laser grid, walling them in! Truman finally owns up: he's the one who's been kidnapping racers and it was because the leader of the Bloody Chain, Michael Chain, asked him to. He had wanted out of their gang out of concern for Dream, but Michael Chain had one last errand for him...and this was it. Having done that, he's free to marry Dream and live in this swank-ass house without fear! Rick and company tell him he's an idiot for believing that, he's only landed his sweetheart in grave peril. Truman scoffs and is like, just you watch, I'm gonna go up there and my girlfriend's gonna be just fine. You'll see! He returns to the dining room and finds Dream being held hostage. His servants are in with the Bloody Chain, and were holding Dream to ensure Truman did his part. Showing them his accomplishment, he unties Dream and the two embrace, both more than a little frightened. Meanwhile, Jody pays a visit to Director Tanaka, who's hyperventilating over his impending report to the chief on the missing pilots. He's buzzed to come in, and that's when he really goes to pieces... He composes himself just before entering the door, only to end up giving his report to a bust of the chief. The Commissioner points him to a visitor, the Mute City mayor, whose daughter came to Mute City three weeks ago to meet her boyfriend, but hasn't been seen since. What's worse, she isn't marrying the man he's chosen for her, and he comes to Tanaka and the chief fearing Rick and Lucy have been kidnapped, since their machines are missing and they haven't shown up to work, he suspects they're missing like those other three racers! He hands him a photograph in the hopes of tracking Dream down, though. Following up on the chief's order, the Galaxy Mobile Platoon begin trawling the city to find the man's daughter, as well as Rick and Lucy. Jack visits the Falcon House after closing hours and finds Burt, asking him if he's seen the girl in the photo. He glares hard at it. Truman opens up to his love, telling her the lengths he's gone to and how he wishes to spend all his days with her. Dream is shocked and a little disgusted with this. She doesn't care for his great mansion or his fat wallet, she loves him for how kindly he's treated her, and if this is the sort of thing he does to keep his riches, she wants nothing to do with him. The flashback with Michael Chain is implied to be their first encounter, and he tracked Truman down because of his ties with Rick and company. All talk of his debt to the gang is dropped, fearing he's being disowned by his family once they hear about this ordeal. Down below, the kidnapped racers try to figure out how to escape their prison. Super Arrow's fantasy has a faded white border around it to imply it's a dream before the reveal as he was shocked from the laser gates: Super Arrow suddenly has a totally kickass sword, so brilliant and sharp its blade can slice right through the lasers, destroying them! Everyone is saved! His wife loves him! He's won the respect and admiration of others! Unfortunately, it was just a dream. Getting electrocuted gets very exhausting, you know.Rick suggests Super Arrow use his owl to fly through the lasers. That's a great idea! It flies straight into the lasers. But was shocked. Outside, the Bloody Chain members of the household guard the exits, waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive. A secret wall opens up in the basement and Dream and Truman enter, disabling the laser grid. Two gangsters enter from the staircase, but Truman blocks their passage, calling for the racers to make their escape! This noble gesture is nullified when Rick just sucker punches them anyway. The group exit the building only to find an imposing figure waiting for them: Michael Chain! He's most upset with his underling's betrayal, and confesses he's been capturing racers so the prize money will be easier to acquire; but if they've escaped, he might as well give them seven lashings with his chain. Rick dodges his swings, the chain tearing through the mansion's pillars, but a smack to the gob sends him to the ground. He quickly rises, now packing heat and preparing to pump them full of lead. Super Arrow sics Zukk on him, blinding Chain long enough for Rick to deliver a flying kick to his chin. Defeated, Michael and the Bloody Chain make their getaway, vowing to reclaim the debt someday. Truman collapses to his knees: he's lost everything he owns, and everything he loves. Dream is still there for him, though, and believes if they work hard to earn what they need, the two of them will still have a future. A future where they can spend all their days together. That's enough to give him the strength to embrace her once more. But hang on, there's still that business with president of the Catherine Consortium! It's a total non-issue though: he shows up, happy to have found her daughter, but Dream says she's marrying Truman. Fair enough, no argument there. The two go and get married. The ending is replaced entirely with a split screen of race footage and shots from the wedding while Rick gives a resolution through narration: the captured pilots were released, Dream and Truman got married a few months later, and they spent their honeymoon at the F-Zero races, right at the finish line, editing a shot of them to be in a gown and suit.   Miss Killer Puzzle

  It's the final lap of a dangerous Mute City race and Bio Rex is leading the way, followed closely by Octoman and Rick Wheeler. Jody urges her subordinate it's crucial to win this race, he won't have a chance unless he makes his move. Rick begins speeding up after he abruptly ended the transmission, but gets boxed in by the Deep Claw, keeping him off the Big Fang's tail. The two villains thank each other while Octoman moves in for the kill, pressing the Dragon Bird against the wall and preparing to ram him. Rick brakes at the last second, leaving the Deep Claw to fall right off the side of the track. Bio Rex is in it alone now, and tries to block the Dragon Bird from passing. They approach the final corner, and that gives Rick the chance to boost while on the inside, leaving the Big Fang in the dust. He makes first place, Jack Levin sneaks in second place while Bio Rex manages only third. Before he crossed the finish, Rick remembers back to his Formula One days and the similar thrill of victory, but more importantly, he reminisces on his old love, Haruka. Back at HQ, Jack is jealous of Rick's victory - he wins twice in a row and now his image adorns the cover of magazines! He tries to vent to the man himself, telling him he shouldn't take time for photo shoots over his day job, but Rick says even he isn't happy with the publicity - it certainly wasn't his idea as he had nothing to do with the cover, and they used his pic w/o his permission. Jack asked why he can't love being an F-Zero superstar, he simply replies he's just doing his job, and he walks out, other things on his mind. Jack gets sour since Rick doesn't know how to be happy when he's a winner, to which Lucy responds she'd rather be a sore winner than a sore loser, like him. Jody is in Tanaka's office, and he's most pleased with Rick's winning streak; the prize money's what's keeping them in their jobs, after all! Though Tanaka seems less down-to-earth as he admires Rick's victories, and may want a bigger office. Jody expresses a concern to the director: since Wheeler's winning the prize money, he's become Dark Million's #1 target. Black Shadow has racers working for him, and if Rick keeps winning, they're going to retaliate. Tanaka deems it wise to keep a sharp eye out...but in the meantime, he's got all these trophies to admire! Meanwhile, Zoda boards the flying battle station that serves as his base of operations, and leaves his Death Anchor in the hangar for the robots to attend to. Miffed that their focus lies on two brand new machines, he gives them a thump on the backside. He rants there's nothing but losers in the place and is interrupted by Black Shadow tuning in that he's also a failure - he's most displeased with their race results, and doesn't want to hear any of Zoda's excuses. It should be easy: if they can't beat Rick on the race track, then they should eliminate him off the race track. And he has just the man for it... The Skull! This undead racer will plant a curse that'll sap Rick of all his racing skills, as well as conjuring someone from his past. Black Shadow signs out, ordering Zoda to fix up their machines in the meantime. A hooded figure smiles ominously from behind him. While driving home, Rick reminisces once more on his old racing days. In one race he narrowly passed his competitors just in time to reach the finish line, but he didn't care about the crowd of supporters... He cared about Haruka, and hopped out of his car in an instant to embrace her. Sharing a drink by the lakeside, Rick was excited to hear he was one victory away from becoming champion - his lifelong dream. He thanked Haruka for being there for him: she gave him the strength and support he needed to have gotten this far. As it wasn't luck that kept him winning, just that he's the hardworking racer in the circuit, thanks to her. Rick would want to win the Championship, but he's got his sights on a more important prize... Back in the present, Rick finds himself sitting by that very lakeside...feeling a little lost without his love. He drives down to the Falcon House (failing to notice the hooded figure watching him enter) and orders a coffee from Burt, who feels he's got something preying on his mind. Burt closes shop early so he can listen personally to Rick's troubles. He asked if there was someone Burt cared about that he lost, to which he replied. They had their whole lives ahead of them, till he got the call when Zoda escaped. He reveals he planned to propose to Haruka the day he won the championship...but that was also the night Zoda escaped from prison, and Rick was killed in the pursuit. His unfulfilled promise has haunted him for the past 150 years - he still wonders what their life could have been like had the accident never happened. Haruka is gone, and all he has left is the ring he never got to give her. When he got to the bridge, actually, he can't get her off his mind, and he's not sure if he wants to if hew knew how. He also reflected going to the jewelry store where Haruka wanted the ring... While returning to his car, Rick is approached by the mysterious figure: The Skull. He tells him he is haunted by a girl, a ghost, of memories he can't forget, of promises forever broken. He clutches his head to ease his mind, but Rick shakes him off and drives away, thinking he's just a weirdo. The Skull has gotten what he came for: a strand of Rick's hair! At his apartment, he is awoken in the middle of the night by a call from Jody: a woman has defected from Dark Million and is seeking asylum. He drives out to the contact point at Fulmington, Broadway, and is shocked when he sees her: she's the spitting image of Haruka...but with more bangs and a deeper tone. He gains his composure and introduces himself as part of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon after he was asked how he found her...only for a shot to ring out! He grabs her hand and they pile into the Dragon Bird and peel out. Unbeknownst to them, the gunfire was The Skull's handiwork! Taking her to his apartment, he sets her up with a hot coffee and admits he's not much of a cook. She introduces herself. She claims her name is Sophia, and her family travelled the universe in their trade ship...until Black Shadow attacked and captured them, working her family to death, leaving her the only survivor. She knew what she was doing was wrong so when she lost her parents a year ago, she was looking for a chance to get away. Rick can't shake the stunning resemblance to his long-gone girlfriend and admits she reminds of someone he used to know, before darting away to get in touch with the rest of the Platoon. Sophia follows after, smiling a curious smile, and asks what his girlfriend's name was. This is all going as The Skull has planned: tying Rick's hair around a card and setting it alight, the curse has been set: all Rick needs to do is say his true love's name, and the curse will be activated! He answers her question, and suddenly feels tremendously weak: he can barely breathe and stand up! Holding onto his dead love has left him weak, Sophia laughs, before revealing her true guise: it was a spell bound to him the moment he said her name, and she's an assassin from Dark Million! She draws and knife and lunges for him, but he has just enough strength to scramble away a couple times. In the midst of fleeing he knocks his bedside dresser over, and Haruka's proposal ring spills out of it. The assassin grabs him by the collar and raises her dagger, ready to plunge it into his heart...only for the light of the moon to fall on Haruka's ring, illuminating it. This distracts her just long enough for Rick to shove her aside. The assassin makes her getaway by leaping through the window, riding away on an F-Zero machine, the Sonic Phantom. Rick lifts Haruka's ring: was this what saved him? Black Shadow is very upset with this affair: how could Miss Killer and The Skull fail? They clearly weren't trying hard enough, and he will tolerate no failure from them in future, regardless on how it gets done, even if the Skull would send a legion of zombies after him, or turn him to a toad, or whip up a poisonous potion or apple. Zoda cackles to himself that they should be a part of his pit crew and best to stay out of his way since Rick is his. The Galaxy Mobile Platoon and the police visit Rick's apartment to investigate and patch up his injuries. Obviously the woman is still among Dark Million's ranks, and Jody reminds her crew that they may face further attacks in the future: they had best be on their guard.   Jody's Secret

  Even on a busy rush hour morning, one F-Zero machine manages to weave its way through the traffic at a quick pace, making its way to the Falcon House. It's delivering a cargo of rare and delicious mangoes from planet Doreya, said to be the greatest fruit in the galaxy. Burt had them ordered in just for Alias, and the deliveryman is Roger Buster, one half of the greatest delivery duo in the business; this was a small delivery, so his partner stayed behind to check on deliveries. Everyone at the café praises Roger for his hard work - a one-day delivery from another planet is no small feat! Everyone samples out the delicious mangoes, and Alias gets Roger's autograph, who can't wait to challenge Rick at the Fake Star Grand Prix. Unbeknownst to the happy customers, Roger's partner Draq is having some issues back at the station. Miss Killer has paid a visit and coerced him into a mysterious arrangement; he clearly wants no part of it, but the woman's violent ways leave him no choice. Meanwhile, Alias's mother tells his friends he's having an operation soon, and it wouldn't be possible if it weren't for Rick rescuing the medicine; however, Alias is afraid to go, worrying if it'll do him any good. Rick and Roger try to make it easier for him, saying if either of them win the grand prix, he should have his operation...and Roger'll send him a crate of Doreya mangoes if he wins! Rick simply promises Alias to win it as another incentive. The Fake Star Grand Prix is about to begin, and Rick and Roger are confident about their victory; Alias's wellbeing is riding on it. Draq in his Mighty Typhoon is also among the racers, but so is another surprise appearance: Captain Falcon! The race begins, and Roger's Mighty Hurricane and Rick's Dragon Bird are fighting for first place. Alias feels ever more assured knowing the two are racing for him. Entering the tunnel, Roger rides up the walls to hit all the speed boosters, giving himself an incredible lead. Rick follows suit, the two of them giving this race their utmost focus. Encountering a hard turn, the Mighty Hurricane passes through it without a bit of a scrape, and is still far, far ahead of the competition. What he doesn't notice, however, is a flashing beacon planted on his ship by an unknown sniper miles from the race track. Which actually turned out to be the Polipoto assassin, Pico!! The sniper proceeds to fire these beacons onto the rest of the racers, working backwards from first place. No one notices except Draq - who appears to have been expecting this - and Captain Falcon, who notices the glare from the faraway mountain. He proceeds to drive his Blue Falcon off the side of the track...and begin riding along its underside. The sniper notices he's short one racer, but as far as he's concerned, his job is done. The F-Zero committee receive a recorded message from Zoda (trying to disguise himself for some godforsaken reason, and a bad one at that): he has planted a bomb on every vehicle in this race. If the vehicle's speed falls below V-1 or above V-2, aka the red zone, the bomb will detonate, unless they pay him a ransom of 10 million space credits. The committee are in shock; there's little they can do to remove these bombs, and there's a risk of the racers running out of fuel. For now, all they can do is call the police and warn the participants of the speed limit. The racers all slow to their safest limit, and John Tanaka is most upset about this back at police headquarters: everyone in the Platoon but himself, Dr. Stewart and Clash are taking part and under risk of detonating! The doctor has no time to worry - he theorizes there must be a transmitter near the track, and their objective should be to find it and disable it. Clash busies himself with pinpointing the bombs on all the machines, but there's still a risk that this is all a hoax. He quickly scratches that when some poor schmoe's machine skids out, detonating the moment its speed drops. Well, they know the threat is real, and it's a sure bet Zoda is behind this, but there's no way to leave the track...however Rick still has a race to win! He pushes his speed to the cusp, but the Mighty Hurricane accelerates to keep ahead of him. Draq calls out to his partner to slow down, leave the victory to him instead. Miss Killer has threatened him for the prize money, and in exchange, she wouldn't kill Roger. Draq is doing this for his friend... And he hits a speed booster, gaining the lead. Roger is exasperated - he's winning this for Alias! What does Draq think he's doing?! He accelerates to first place, not wanting Alias to die over his loss, but Draq retakes it, not wanting Roger to die. Rick gets in the promise party as well, and pushes his speed to the limit to try and match theirs. It's neck and neck between the three of them, risking their lives for the victory... but at least Alias is watching a hell of a race. Meanwhile on the underside of the track, the Blue Falcon is still speeding away unhindered by the bombs. Flipping through the cameras recording the race, he sees one of a nearby blimp that looks worth investigating. Roger and Draq argue over who should slow down - they both have their own promises to keep, even if it kills them, and neither of them are going to back down. Not even Rick! Captain Falcon reaches the end of the track before boosting, hurling his Blue Falcon through the air and straight towards the blimp, crashing into the command deck: it's filled with Zoda's robot henchman! Just as that happens, Draq can handle it no longer; he's going to push his speed into the red. Roger and Rick follow suit, rising above the supposed danger levels. While the Platoon cry out in fear, Clash barely able to watch, the three race to the bitter end...and Rick makes first place, followed by Roger Buster in second. The crowd goes wild! Alias couldn't have asked for a better result; both of his heroes got first and second place! The blimp situation has been remedied, Captain Falcon having trashed those robots and their transmitter consoles. Pico packs up and leaves. Roger scolds his partner for not telling the truth, though Draq clearly had his reasons; they can't stay mad at each other. Rick is praised for his victory by the Platoon, but Jody still reprimands him for disobeying orders; not to mention they never actually learnt the real story behind the threat. Clash is still puzzled, though: those were real explosive chips planted on the racers. Why didn't they explode? Taking a Doreyo mango for himself, Rick watches Roger Buster and Draq's delivery vessel approach a warp gate.   Roger and Draq

  It is the 21st century. The New York police have set up a barricade, anticipating a gang attack. A wave of bikers and armored vehicles come peeling up, knocking aside parked cars and causing petty destruction. The police open fire, only for a window to roll down, revealing the pinstriped prince of crime: Zoda! Opening fire on the police with a grenade launcher, the two factions enter a destructive shootout: lampposts, shop fronts, police cars, nothing is spared from their seemingly unstoppable onslaught, and Zoda is enjoying every minute of it. Zoda reminisces on this fondly as he leads this latest race, far ahead of the competition. Captain Falcon, however, catches up to battle for first place. The two boost forward, soaring their way over a gap in the track, only for a new contender to barge in: the Moon Shadow soars right over their heads in midair, knocking the Death Anchor aside on the way down, causing it to spin out while Miss Killer wins her first race! While leaving the stadium's hangar, Captain Falcon keeps a close eye on the newcomer. Returning to their space station headquarters, Zoda gets on Miss Killer's case for robbing him of his victory. She's quick to snub him: would he have won against Captain Falcon anyway? Black Shadow's the big cheese now, and Zoda's nothing but a dusty old relic. Zoda takes his anger out on her trophy. Bowing to Black Shadow, the emperor of evil congratulates her on her victory. The Crystal Cup is the next F-Zero race, and she hopes the trophy will make a fine present for her leader. Zoda threatens her on the way out, claiming he's got a big gift of his own planned for her. After a routine check-up at the cyborg facility, Jody receives a letter containing a memory chip, labeled: "from F." She, Tanaka and Rick view the data together, and see it contains info on Miss Killer, confirming her affiliation with Dark Million...and given the prize money on the Crystal Cup, there's no way she'll miss it. Rick is ready to give this race 110% - he won't let his attempted murderer take first place. The Crystal Cup is taking place on Meteor Stream, a track suspended in space above the earth, boasting an array of shields that protect the track and the audience from any incoming meteorites. A good chunk of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon are taking part, including Lucy, who's keen to show off her skills. Miss Killer is taking part, as predicted, and she locks eyes with Rick. Jody sat this race out, citing a bad feeling she's got: Zoda is a regular at prolific races, but he's nowhere to be seen. She has good reason to be suspicious. In the track's control tower, the guards have been knocked unconscious, and the command center is stormed by Dark Million robots, and Zoda, wearing that goofy disguise again: he asks them to start the race. The lights turn green, and the racers fly out of the starting grid. Making their way through a magnetic tunnel, Jack suggests to Rick the two of them should see if they can score first and second place together. The Blue Falcon soaring between them puts a damper on that plan, though it's only early days. The racers exit the tunnels and approach a choice of two paths. The Dragon Bird and Blue Falcon are locked grinding against each other, so Jack chooses the rightmost path, triggering multiple speed boost pads. The Moon Shadow quickly approaches from behind and slams him, sending him into a spinout as Miss Killer takes the lead. The paths reunite, and Captain Falcon, Rick Wheeler and Miss Killer are all tied for first. Zoda is watching and finally enacts his plan: he disables the shields surrounding the course, allowing meteorites to begin striking the track! The three leading racers can only watch as meteors tear through the road, leaving massive holes and craters. They dodge them effortlessly, even evading some close shaves, but other racers are not so lucky: Lucy is jostled by impacts and EAD's Great Star is left teetering over a crevice. Clash is quick to investigate: this is no technical error, the shields have been intentionally disabled! He tries to send a message of warning to the F-Zero committee, but contact with them has been locked off. Zoda, reveling in the chaos, speaks to Miss Killer personally: how does she like his present? One of the robots squeaks in fear, and he turns around to find Black Shadow looming over him! Just when he tries to explain his actions, Jody and Dr. Stewart burst in, brandishing pistols. They open fire on Black Shadow, but the laser fire merely passes through him: this is just a hologram! It laughs as it fizzles away, though Zoda and his robots leg it out of there nonetheless. Before they can pursue, the two receive a message from Clash - there's something new on the race track! The Black Bull has made a sudden appearance! It ploughs through friend and foe alike, though Lucy is lucky enough to avoid it. Jack is amused that this newcomer thinks he's got a chance against him, but Jody calls in warning him that this is no mere F-Zero racer: that is the Black Shadow's personal machine! Cackling, Black Shadow shoves the Astro Robin aside like it were nothing and continues onward, slowly approaching the three leading racers. The command crew are retrieved to help reactivate the shield system, though the rain of meteors is getting heavier, and it's too late to avoid major damage. A meteor comes soaring down towards the track ahead of Rick, Falcon and Miss Killer. The Blue Falcon and Dragon Bird brake hard to get out of its range, but the Moon Shadow spins out of control towards it. The Black Bull comes roaring from behind, shoving her aside and taking the full force of the meteorite, exploding in a flaming, tumbling wreck. Zoda is shocked at first glance, falling to his knees in fear...but within seconds, he begins laughing. That jerk was asking for it! With him out of the way, Zoda is free to take his place and rule Dark Million himself! He and his robots leave on their battle station while Miss Killer cries out in anguish. Her master has perished! A familiar cackle comes from her transmitter, and another Black Bull appears, rumbling passed the duplicate's wreck. She thanks her master for saving her using that decoy, but Captain Falcon isn't taking this sitting down: he's got to catch him! The shields reinstated, it's safe for Rick to stop and check on the flaming wreckage of one of the Black Bulls. He sees movement from behind the smoke... A skinless android in Black Shadow's visage comes stomping out of the wreckage, making its way towards Rick's machine. Before it can reach him, it begins sparking and falls to its knees, its chassis smoking and falling apart before his eyes. A blare rings out over the course: due to severe damage, today's race has been cancelled, and whoever is currently in the lead is declared the winner. And the leading racer is...the Elegance Liberty! The crowd burst into applause; this is Lucy's first ever victory! Clash rushes to the track and lifts her in his arms, overjoyed for his young apprentice. Returning to their base in deep space, Zoda marches in the very image of confidence, boasting his new position as leader and demanding he brought the biggest bowl of celebratory ice cream they can find--only to find Black Shadow sitting in his throne, as usual, with Miss Killer by his side. Zoda quickly bows, claiming he was ever so worried for his master's wellbeing. They mockingly thank him for the surprise he prepared at the race.   The Boy From Planet Heiru

  Rick is taking a beating during his latest race, The Skull's Sonic Phantom repeatedly ramming him into the walls. Jody Summer, monitoring this back at HQ, tells him to quash his hopes of making first place; his booster is heavily damaged and Jack Levin is already in first place, they can leave it up to him. Rick is devastated - what's the point of racing if not to win? Just before he shuts off the communicator, Jody reminds him of their mission and that The Skull is under Dark Million's employment; well, that sounds like a good reason to beat him, doesn't it? Rick boosts at the last second, leaving the Sonic Phantom to grind to a halt against the barriers. A sweet move, for sure, but the Platoon are doubtful he'll make it to the finish line. Jack makes it to the final lap and is enjoying the solitude of first place, until the Dragon Bird comes roaring up behind him. The Astro Robin boosts to increase the gap between them, and Rick does the same...only for his booster to fail, causing his machine to conk out. The Dragon Bird drifts limply to one side, slowing to a creaky halt as the rest of the racers pass him by. What a time to lose. The race isn't over yet - Jack is still far ahead of the pack, but one racer is quickly creeping up on him. If Rick's already wiped out, then it can only mean...Captain Falcon! He slowly catches up on the poster boy racer, the two fighting for first place, but in the end the Blue Falcon snatches victory by a nosecone. The crowd gets hype, and in an unknown location, a figure in green applauds Falcon's success. Jody gives Rick an earful once he returns to the station - he disobeyed her orders while still being on probation, and he just got assigned for laundry duty the rest of the month. He was outraged it isn't fair, after all, what kind of pilot would he be without winning?? Jody responded he should be a team player instead of a glory hog; they would've won that race if he wouldn't put his ego ahead of himself. She always thought he was a valuable asset to the team, but now she's not so sure anymore. Rick meets up with the rest of the Platoon and tells Jack that Jody's scheduling a meeting with him: he hopes it's her commenting of his driving, to which Rick responds he does a good job driving everybody crazy. The two get violent, but EAD is there to break it up. Lucy assures them to fight Dark Million instead of each other, though Clash comments that Captain Falcon has beaten the two of them every time he's shown up. Face facts, that guy's a better driver; as he stays steady till the last lap, then he steps on it! Rick asks who he is, and nobody gives a solid answer: his identity is a mystery, and his spending habits an enigma. Clash said the man's techniques could teach them a thing or two! At his battle station, Zoda clobbers The Skull for his incompetence, but is interrupted by a surprise transmission from Black Shadow. Zoda vows to defeat Captain Falcon next time, but that's not who Black Shadow's concerned about; it's the runt, Rick Wheeler, he wants rid of. Zoda is sure he can think of something for the next race. While reflecting in the police station's observation deck at sunset, Rick is visited by Dr. Stewart, making sure he's keeping all right; he says that Jody still believes in him, and he must stay focused on their mission. Still curious, he asks the doctor if he knows anything about Captain Falcon. All he knows is a story that supposedly happened five years ago: A transport ship docked on planet Forno, Heru in Japanese, was suddenly attacked, but before the police could arrive it had been left a smoking ruin. The investigation revealed it was a smuggler ship, possibly under space pirate control. Rick asked if they'd worked for Dark Million. It's possible. Rick is pretty hyped up: Captain Falcon destroyed such a huge ship singlehandedly! This could mean he's on their side! Stewart is quick to remind him this is only hearsay; they don't know the true story behind the attack, and whether or not Falcon is friend or foe. Maybe he had a grudge with the pirates or made some deal that went bad; but by the time the police showed up, it was all over, and no one was talking. So, Capt. Falcon still remains a mystery... The Galaxy Mobile Platoon make the long flight to planet Forno; Jody said the planet is too poor to afford a warp gate, but F-Zero means a lot to the populace. Once ravaged by civil war, it has since had the chance to rebuild, though there is still a large population of orphans. Rick and Jack have been invited to a charity event at a local orphanage, so they'll have to bring their biggest smiles, according to Stewart. Hovering above Forno's forest, Zoda communicates with a freelance computer cracker who has devised a key that'll allow them to steal the Dragon Bird. They confirm the payment and sign off, but what Zoda doesn't know is the man on the other side of the transmission was a mere boy! Miss Killer snoops in on Zoda's plan: he aims to steal the Dragon Bird and discover its secrets...and failing that, they might just steal it so he can't take part in the race! The boy, Clank Hughes, leaves to head for the race track, only to walk into a football game between other orphans: they tease him that he'll never be an F-Zero pilot since he's too young, especially when his father is a traitorous criminal. Clank is furious, cursing their lies and claiming his dad was a renowned hero, a Galaxy Police officer, but without any proof he gets mocked some more. He kicks their ball away and runs away in a huff...oblivious that Captain Falcon witnessed the whole thing. Mr. Zero, the announcer, is present at the charity event to proclaim the arrival of Rick Wheeler and Jack Levin, to the cheers of the children. They're quickly mobbed by adoring pint-sized fans, all clamoring for autographs, but in the excitement, no one notices Clank sneaking passed them all and into the cockpit of the Dragon Bird! His homemade key quickly cracks the machine's password, and he zips away before Rick can catch him. He borrows the Astro Robin to chase after, the kids thrilled by this turn of events. What's even more exciting is the surprise appearance of the Blue Falcon, zipping passed them in the same direction! Rick tries to keep up, struggling with how differently the Astro Robin handles. Just when he thinks he's caught up, the Dragon Bird flies straight off the track and into the foliage below, to see how it can handle off-road! He tries once more to offer her to work for him, but she boosts ahead, saying he can use her if he beats her. Her path is soon blocked by Octoman and Bio Rex, who quickly put her machine out of commission. The Super Piranha in flames, Zoda asks her one last time: will she work for him? As a robot, he may be a tool to be used by others, but he himself would never treat anyone that way. The machine's motor is going full pelt, and the robot's body is cracking beneath the strain, but neither are going anywhere. Kate cries out his name, but EAD needs a way to stop this thing. Pushing his strength to the limit, he lifts the Death Anchor up off the ground and topples backwards with a horrible crunch. His machine merely bruised, Zoda scoffs and drives off, while Rick and Jody stop at the scene...to find nothing left of their robot friend. Amidst the debris, it almost looks like his memory core survived the impact...but it too shatters the moment it's touched. Rick is furious; this is how far EAD went to protect her, but Kate is finally aware. She lifts a fragment in her hands as tears roll down her cheeks. Clash has done his best to restore the robot's body, but with the memory core completely unsalvageable, EAD will be back to factory settings. Awakening again, EAD introduces himself to the Platoon as if for the first time, and he also forgets his encounter with Kate as well. She finishes up her latest performances and returns backstage, almost expecting to find the robot waiting for her. As a robot, he may be a tool to be used by others, but he himself would never treat anyone that way. Kate is touched, and takes his hand...but EAD falls to the ground, a huge gash in his back from Zoda's knife. The Dragon Bird and White Cat are hot on Zoda's tail, until he boosts away, Octoman and Bio Rex arriving to stop them from pursuing. Zoda laps around to where he left the Super Piranha, and prepares to squash Kate into roadkill. EAD rises to his feet once more; he made a promise to protect her, and he'll do everything to accomplish that, even if it destroys him. The robot braces for impact and grabs the front of the Death Anchor, his feet burying into the ground and his eyes blazing in red sparks. The machine's motor is going full pelt, and the robot's body is cracking beneath the strain, but neither are going anywhere. Kate cries out his name, but EAD needs a way to stop this thing. Pushing his strength to the limit, he lifts the Death Anchor up off the ground and topples backwards with a horrible crunch. His machine merely bruised, Zoda scoffs and drives off, while Rick and Jody stop at the scene...to find nothing left of their robot friend. Amidst the debris, it almost looks like his memory core survived the impact...but it too shatters the moment it's touched. Rick is furious; this is how far EAD went to protect her, but Kate is finally aware. She lifts a fragment in her hands as tears roll down her cheeks. Clash has done his best to restore the robot's body, but with the memory core completely unsalvageable, EAD will be back to factory settings. Awakening again, EAD introduces himself to the Platoon as if for the first time, and he also forgets his encounter with Kate as well. She finishes up her latest performances and returns backstage, almost expecting to find the robot waiting for her. Gordon invites her out again for an encore, and she agrees: she'll sing EAD's favorite song...for a very special friend. Watching the show on the screen, Rick asks the robot if he remembers anything.   Sinper Pico

  On a dark and misty night, a lone F-Zero machine prowls the empty warehouse district. Inside one of those warehouses, Octoman and Bio Rex are busy playing (and arguing over) a game of cards. Only in the thick of their argument do the two suddenly notice the mysterious pilot watching them nonchalantly. Octoman hurls the cards at him, and the pilot shoots a hole through the center of every last one of them. Bio Rex takes his turn at attacking, but before he can even lunge, more laser fire is shot his way...and all his teeth are knocked out. Humbled, the two lackeys stumble backwards in fear...only to be swamped by micro chips leaking out of containers, apparently also the dirty work of this intruder. Zoda is stirred from his office to see what all the commotion is about, but upon seeing who it is, he realizes all is well: it's only the merciless gun-for-hire, Pico! He had hired him previously for the terrorist threat against the F-Zero committee, and it looks like he needs his help again... Zoda's data chip operations have been foiled by the police with frustrating consistency these days; it's a lucky day if he ever makes it back to base. If he is to move unhindered, he needs to put away whoever's organizing these snares. He assigns Pico his target, Director John Tanaka, and the assassin is away before Zoda can even finish his sentence. The two goons are concerned what Black Shadow will think if he fails; who cares about Black Shadow? Zoda's only after money, nothing else. John Tanaka, the very image of professionalism and commitment, is fast asleep at his desk, lost in a dream of romancing his secret love, Kate Alen. His daydream is interrupted when Jody reports that the police have captured another of Dark Million's transports. That'll put the pressure on 'em. A mysterious deliveryman enters the police headquarters with a package for Director Tanaka; the guards offer to hold it for him, but he claims he can't leave without the director's signature, company policy. Unbeknownst to them, this is Pico in disguise and his parcel is a time bomb just waiting to go off. The hitman can barely hold back his smirk. Even while awake, Tanaka can't stop dreaming about Kate: he preens himself in anticipation for her concert tonight and dreams of making her chief of police, just so he can hear her gorgeous singing anytime he wants. He's just about to smooch all over her poster when a knock at the door sends him scampering to his desk. Fearing it's Jody, he's relieved to find it's the deliveryman. Pico sets the parcel upon his desk, and John mulls it over never expecting a package, wondering whatever could be inside. "I think it'll blow up." Fearing the director already knows, Pico turns to leave only for John to call him back. He doesn't want this giant parcel cluttering up his desk, and tells him to take it away. The hitman is sweating, anxiously awaiting for the ball to drop, when John opens his desk drawer...Expecting to have a gun drawn on him, Pico drops the parcel and legs it out of there, leaving poor Tanaka bewildered. Doesn't he need his signature? Jody passes Pico rushing down the corridor, and orders him to stop and turn around. The hitman obliges...and sheds his disguise, nearly roundhouse-kicking Jody. She dodges and fires a shot from her blaster, but Pico dives out the window and sails away to safety on his parachute. There's no chance of her catching up, but more importantly that parcel is still in the director's office! Jody barges in and tells him to get rid of it, John chucking it, Jody tackling him to the ground, which the package rolled out just before it explodes. Jody announces for the security to arrive at the director's office. The other Platoon members (Lucy, Jack, and EAD) rush in to check if everyone's all right. Tanaka expects them to embrace him, but rushed passed him towards Jody; Jack said Rick is already out pursuing the parachute in his Dragon Bird. Tanaka just moaned since he didn't have hs men's attention. Pico drops from his parachute atop some poor schmuck's car, hijacking it with the Dragon Bird hot on his trail. Rick weaves between cars, some battered aside by the hitman in an attempt to slow him down. The assassin begins firing slugs into Rick's windscreen, boasting it's gonna take more than that to stop the Dragon Bird! But after a couple shots, eventually the volleys shattered it. This slows him down long enough for Pico to drive off the side of the highway and land atop a Dark Million battle station, flying him to safety. He asked who is this guy? Rick returns to headquarters, none the wiser on who the perpetrator was; though Jody mentioned it was Pico in the English dub. He's sorry for losing him, and the group suspect their raids on Zoda's data chip-smuggling must have prompted this attack on Tanaka, as a ways for them to surrender. Dr. Stewart arrives to tell them he's identified the attacker: Pico, an ex-soldier turned hitman, and talented assassin of the galaxy. "He's extremely intelligent, and ruthless. Once he has a target in his sights he won't give up till he hits it." Fearful for the director's life, Jody and EAD take Tanaka to a new office where they believes he'll be less of a target, and gives him 24-hour protection. This is awful! He can't leave, he can't sleep here, though Jody says he'll use his chair like he does in his office - and he won't be able to see his beloved Kate! He tries to keep it a secret from Jody, though he approaches the window and points dramatically - no matter the obstacle, he'll get to her somehow! "He spotted me instantly..!" Pico said outside with his machine gun drawn and seen thru the lens. Alone in his room, John Tanaka sobs over his poor luck: he only spent forever getting his ticket and finally freed up his evening, and he can't leave his room until his attacker is caught. Surely there's some way he can leave without being detected? His eyes turn to the empty boxes from his office. Of course! The postal service! In the warehouse district, Zoda is loading up more truckloads of treasure en route for Port Town. A cruise ship is docked there and the goods will be loaded aboard; the police won't suspect a thing! Octoman is thrilled by the idea. "Our luggage would be the data chips. And we'll sell them off planet. You are a genius, Zoda." "I know..! I know!," Zoda cackles. What they don't suspect is a parcel from the police station is also destined for the same cruise ship...and inside it is John Tanaka! This is brilliant, a totally flawless plan. Sometimes you gotta think inside the box, he thinks...until he realizes he can't get out. His struggling causes his container to fall out of the truck and shatter, right in the path of an incoming taxi. He hops in instantly and asks the driver to take him to Port Town. "I can't believe it. He must have figured out Zoda's scheme." Pico narrowly avoids being recognized, and asks his passenger why he's visiting Port Town. John answers he's there to meet a very important person, saying he's waited a long time for this opportunity, and nothing'll stop him. Fearing they've been sassed out again, Pico readies his pistol in one hand, "He knows. He's warning me not to pull any tricks. If I'll try to blast him, he'll get me first." At the station, Lucy apologizes for letting John slip her by, and the group ponder where he could be. Jody remembers him mentioning something about a concert. There was a flashback, and Lucy mentioned Kate is singing tonight. Rick remembers she'll perform at the Port Town Star Cruiser tonight, and the singer had invited him and EAD to a dinner performance on the Port Town cruise ship. Tanaka's friends with Gordon so he's also been invited. He fears no matter where he goes, Pico would spot him and it'll be too late. Jody offered to go aboard. Meanwhile, Pico has readied his sniper rifle upon the crowd entering the ship, but can find no sign of his target: the director has blended in with the crowd. He's good. Reporting in to Zoda, Pico tells him this John Tanaka is one slippery customer, more canny than they ever suspected: he knows their every move and is already on-site, waiting to strike. Zoda can't believe this, neither would Bio Rex since Pico said he's alone: this guy's trying to take them on as a one-man army? And they've lost track of him?! The director has finally made his way to Kate Alen's show, and is having a peaceful, relaxing time at the lavatory. It was worth all the trouble. Zoda and his men make immediate preparations to put a stop to their nemesis, while John Tanaka is busy fantasising about his favorite singer, dreaming of what it'll be like to smooch those lovely lips after the show, and even make a good duet. Suddenly, a set of slithery tentacles wrap around him and Octoman drags him away! The Galaxy Mobile Platoon arrive on the cruise ship, and failing to find the director among the crowd at Kate's show, split up to go look for him. Jody instead finds a Dark Million robot enter a door in the basement, and she calls for backup. But Octoman and Bio Rex are waiting for her! One kick is all it takes to send the squid-man out for the count, and his spraying of ink blinds Bio Rex, causing him to run into a wall and knock himself out cold. Tanaka, meanwhile, is strung up and mocked by Zoda as if he was acting scared since he's tough as nails, Pico narrowly missing him for his antics. The director is scared out of his wits and upset he won't meet Kate backstage. They've humored themselves enough, and Pico is ready to put the poor sap out of his misery...when Jody enters, zapping the gun out of his hand. Rick and Lucy show up as well; the director had hidden backup this whole time! Rick clobbers the robot minions, Zoda throwing more of them his way so he can make his escape. Jody unties Tanaka, but Pico has unfinished business with the two of them, and draws his pistol on them. Unfortunately for him, he immediately slips on the ropes, tipping him backwards and knocking the crates over the rest of Zoda's robots. Foiled and humiliated, the Dark Million goons hop aboard a truck and make a getaway, while Pico sneaks away through a vent, unseen. Ironically, Zoda said they hadn't seen the last of him; however...that'll be explained in a moment. The whole affair taken care of, Tanaka wonders what all the chaos was, Jody said they just got the stolen data chips back, and Rick sworn they'll capture Zoda next time. Lucy wishes to know what prompted the director to come here, either to catch the concert or Zoda; reluctant to admit his selfish reasons, he boasts he knew about the scheme this whole time and came to stop it himself. Jody is blown away - the fact the concert's been sold out for weeks and how Tanaka knew of the scheme before Zoda committed it...maybe she was wrong about him! Kate Alen and her manager come rushing up, and Tanaka welcomes them with open arms...but she's here to see Rick since EAD couldn't make it, she was still pleased he came and gave him a peck on the cheek. She has no idea who this other bozo is and wants him removed, though Gordon came with his ticket. Kate apologizes, John is heartbroken. Finally, Kate, Rick and EAD spend some quality time on the road the next day... with John in his Wonder Wasp far behind, still pleading for Kate's attention and never getting her autograph.   Leave it to Super Arrow

  In the secret space headquarters of Dark Million, Miss Killer announces her plan for the sake of the audience: she's looking for a pilot dumb enough for her to manipulate, but talented enough to make her efforts worthwhile. She quickly finds a suitable candidate... Super Arrow makes a dramatic entrance in a sports stadium, eager to hear the fans applauding the arrival of their most capable hero...only to find the place completely empty. His owl, Zukk, reminds him there's no events on today, though that doesn't stop him: he begins calling for his fans to make a similarly dramatic entrance. Instead, he finds the stadium is being used - Rick is practicing some drifting, and the superhero admires his passion but frowns on his technique. Hopping into the King Meteor, he bursts onto the track to show him how a real hero drifts! Unbeknownst to them, Miss Killer is observing their drifting technique. When they're done, Rick has Lucy give her evaluation; he needs to work on controlling his machine while drifting, as it just ends up spinning out beneath him. Having held her end of the bargain, Rick promises to take her to dinner afterwards. While driving home, Super Arrow sees every superhero's one weakness: a crying woman! He gets out and introduces himself, and his bombastic boasts are enough to bring a smile to her face. Her concern is no less troublesome, though: her father was once a builder and designer of F-Zero racers, but owed money to some unscrupulous businessmen before passing away, leaving her with his debt...and his last machine. Super Arrow wipes her tears (with a Super Arrow brand handkerchief) and suggests, if she already has an F-Zero machine, why not race it to win prize money? He'll even personally train her to the highest degree! The girl is overcome with his generosity, and wants to find out how she can thank him. To Super Arrow, that is of no concern, his only wish is to turn her luck around; and he's married, by the way. He realizes the girl has not introduced herself. Her name? Sophia. This should be a really bad sign... Meanwhile, Rick and Lucy are out on their dinner date to the swankiest place in town; he cringes at the sight of the prices, though Lucy sees something interesting: isn't that Super Arrow sitting at that table with another woman? She gets excited at the thought of witnessing some juicy gossip material - a superhero with a mistress! - but Rick is shocked when he turns around. Is that Miss Killer?! While excusing himself to freshen up, the superhero is ambushed by Rick and Lucy. They tell him that his dinner date is among Dark Million's ranks and not to be trusted. Although he values his friend's input ("When did you two become friends?" Lucy asks), Super Arrow believe it is his duty to help the poor woman no matter what, and leaves. They drop it and take it up with the rest of the Platoon; they don't know what Miss Killer would want with a subpar racer like Super Arrow, but it bears keeping a close eye on. After his date, Super Arrow ponders what he could teach Sophia to turn her luck around...perhaps that technique Rick demonstrated at the stadium could help? He dreams of transforming it into the "Super Arrow Typhoon Spin", a devastating attack that will sweep the opposition off the track, clearing the way for the plucky damsel. He vows to practice until that fantasy becomes reality. Rick and Lucy visit the Falcon House to ask Burt for any info on Super Arrow they could use. Clank tells them the boss is a busy man who can't waste time with idle questions...though he's free to answer them, whipping out his wrist-mounted computer. According to his databases, the superhero is deathly afraid of his wife - could they use that to help dissuade him? Speak of the devil, Super Arrow enters to tell them all of poor Sophia's plight, and why he must do all he can for her. Rick's attempts to convince him holds no mustard, but since he's been so patient, Super Arrow asks for his help: can he teach him the ways of the Typhoon Spin? Rick is baffled at first, but declines - he's in this alone. Super Arrow leaves in the King Meteor...unaware that the Queen Meteor is watching his departure. Uh-oh... He takes to a practice track and tries his hardest (despite his Zukk's critiques), only for Sophia to appear: would he be willing to try her father's technique? She shows him a demonstration - it requires two racers to boost side-by-side, while a third racer drives in between. The residual energies will propel the third racer far ahead at immense speeds - just like a sandwich, Super Arrow deduces. He dubs this technique the "Sandwich Burst", and the two set to attempting it. The residual energies are a powerful thing, however, and the two machines have difficulty even staying close before it throws them against the track's barriers. Super Arrow isn't willing to give up, no matter how battered his machine becomes. What they need to master the Sandwich Burst is another slice of bread! The superhero sheds tears for his machine's bruises when he's alone repairing it. Rick and Lucy arrive, shocked that "Sophia" was responsible for such damage. Super Arrow doesn't want to hear them say such things about her, and instead offers Rick to become a part of his glorious sandwich. He still has no idea what he means when he returns to the police station; Jody informs him he may have to battle his "friend" if it means preventing Miss Killer from winning. The Gobida Circuit begins after the announcer warns the audience of what dangers await the pilots - extreme temperatures, treacherous sandstorms and more - before the lights turn green and the racers are off! The King Meteor and Moon Shadow stick close the entire race, and the Dragon Bird and Astro Robin aren't far behind to keep an eye on them. By the penultimate lap, a sandstorm begins to approach the track...and Rick is wondering what Super Arrow and Miss Killer have planned. Jack Levin cares not one whit and boosts on ahead, roaring his way to the front of the pack. The Dragon Bird fights to overtake the King Meteor, when Super Arrow tells him his time has come to become the slice of bread. Still baffled, Rick boosts ahead - just as planned - and Super Arrow lines up on his side, paving the way for the Moon Shadow to boost between them. Miss Killer drops her ruse, thanking the big lug for being so blindly cooperative, as the Sandwich Burst rockets her machine forward at impossible speeds. Upset he's been manipulated in such a manner, the Dragon Bird boosts to catch up, the King Meteor doing likewise, trying to calm him down. This is Sophia's race to win! What the two don't notice is a third racer boosting alongside them... it's Mrs. Arrow! Her Queen Meteor helps create another Sandwich Burst, hurling Rick's machine forward at similarly ludicrous speeds. Super Arrow asks his wife why she did such a thing. "For justice, darling." BUSTED! The sandstorm finally sweeps the course, reducing the track's visibility to zilch. Blinded, machines begin colliding with one another, causing chaos on the track. Rick catches up to Miss Killer, but the sandstorm and their uncontrollable speeds are a poor match-up, and the two hit the barriers and fly clean off the track, sliding to a halt next to a cliff. Rick exits his machine to berate Miss Killer - did she think she could get away with manipulating Super Arrow like that? Yes, quite easily, actually - a Dark Million battleship rises from the canyon, picking up the Moon Shadow and its pilot before ferrying them to safety, Miss Killer's laughter drifting through the wind as she makes her escape. On the bright side, Jack Levin was the only pilot left standing to win the race! Super Arrow and Mrs. Arrow have a little talk after the race; the husband apologizes for his actions, but his wife assures him he acted like a true hero, doing what he thought was right and noble. He's pleased to hear such compliments, though he still expresses sorrow for failing Sophia. That's why Mrs. Arrow loves him; his kindness is immeasurable.   Ryu's Magnificent Day Off

  Another day, another F-Zero victory in the hands of Rick Wheeler. Even on this bumpy track, he kept his machine under control with ease, showing no signs of stress...though the Dragon Bird has seen better days. Miss Killer is vexed - she has to know what his driving technique is like! Rick returns to the Galaxy Mobile Platoon headquarters to great acclaim, but is lightly scolded for treating his machine so roughly. It's a small sacrifice towards snatching victory, he claims, but Clash interrupts to say it's in serious need of a repair. Jody lets him have the day off, which is fine by Rick - he's got a hot date scheduled today! He leaves, and Lucy can barely hide her jealousy. In the meantime, Jody assigns the other members to investigate a rash of classic car thievery going about. In his garage, Rick is hard at work fixing up his own classic car - one and Clank had picked out from a junkyard - when he notices he's missing a few vital parks. Conveniently enough, Clank pops by to lend a hand and makes a list of what they need and where to source it. Clank snaps a few photos of Rick, eager to add them to his album. He shows Rick his pet project - a homepage dedicated to all the F-Zero pilots, where Rick is the star attraction. Elsewhere, a classic car sits parked on the street...but not for long! Octoman sneaks up and wriggles his tentacle through the window, unlocking it and allowing him to drive it away. He drops it off with a used car salesman, oblivious that Miss Killer has been watching the whole ordeal. On their quest for parts, Rick and Clank visit Mute City's only outlet for classic car parts, and the ace pilot makes a tit of himself by fumbling with some tires. The salesman approaches, knowing a classic car enthusiast when he sees one, informs him of some rare new parts he's just received, but that's not what they want. They get their parts and leave. With those installed and a few minor adjustments, the car's engine finally roars to life - a success! The two celebrate with Doreyo mango soda and try to think of a name for it. Considering it the Dragon Bird's little brother, Clank names it the Dragon Egg, before Rick reminds him this is way, way, way older than an F-Zero machine...so they dub it the Dragon Ghost instead. Formally christened, the two hop in and give the Dragon Ghost its first drive in years. Meanwhile, Octoman is using his newly-earned cash to gorge himself at King Burger, when Miss Killer sits down before him. So, the slippery cephalopod has made a car-stealing ring, has he? Octoman begs her to keep this hush-hush - this is his living, and if Zoda knew about it he'd take all the earnings! In exchange, she demands a favor. Rick orders some burgers through the drive-through (frightening Octoman and forcing Miss Killer to quiet him) before he and Clank visit the park. Clank mentions he's been reading up on Rick's accident 150 years ago, and the top pilot asks him to look up Haruka Misaki, his old girlfriend. Clank's search doesn't return much info: She was born in 2030 to a fashion designer and a diplomat, but Rick already knew that. She quit being a race queen after his accident...and that's all it says. The entry stops there. The two ponder wistfully; maybe she left New York and lived out her days in happiness somewhere else. Clank wishes she could have been put into cold sleep so the two could be reunited, though Rick doesn't want to get hung up about it - the two return to the car...only to find the tires have been slashed! Who could have done such a thing? They fill them up as best they can and return to the car part store, finding a saleswoman is covering for her boss. They ask for new tires, and the woman warns them about a car thief going about, joking that their flat tires will keep them safe. But they didn't mention the flat tires...! The two apply their new tires and are ready to go, when the saleswoman offers them an anti-theft camera as a free gift. Clank remarks how friendly she was after they leave, but Rick reserves his suspicions about her for now. If only they had known the store owner had been bound and gagged! ...And that the woman was Miss Killer in disguise, now using the dashboard camera to spy on her arch nemesis! Rick finally voices his queries, and given how the tire slashing was so recent, they deduce that the saleswoman must have been the culprit. Clank exits the car to investigate. Meanwhile, Miss Killer signals Octoman to follow her plan. Another car suddenly pulls out in front of the Dragon Ghost - it's Octoman! He taunts Rick over his tires before racing away, but he underestimated how fast the other car is - the Dragon Ghost is in hot pursuit! Clank nips around the back of the car parts shop, finding an underground garage filled to the brim with classic cars! As he's snooping around, a set of headlights flash up behind him and he narrowly avoids being run down by the Moon Shadow, which quickly exits the garage. Rick is still on Octoman's trail, and it's a thrill he hasn't felt in a long time - the sense of being close to the ground, a firm set of tires carrying your machine. It's an irreplaceable sensation. He pulls some sick drifts while keeping close on Octoman's car, unaware that the dashboard camera is watching him. Octoman isn't having a good time - he's not a big fan of old-fashioned automobiles. Miss Killer directs him along the best paths to evade Rick, using lots of turns and hills, though her intention is not for Octoman's getaway, but instead to test Rick's skill and record his racing data. Frustrated with the traffic, Octoman mounts the sidewalk and roars over the hill...just as a cat is walking across the road! He brakes just in time and scolds the foolish feline, but Rick's got the drop on him, parking in front of his car. That doesn't stop Octoman, though, as he exits his vehicle and boards the Deep Claw. Now this is a machine he can handle! His machine darts away and turns down an alley, but cities aren't built for such fast machines, and he bangs against the wall before continuing on. Clank is busy checking his computer when he notices the Dragon Ghost is emitting a signal...and it's coming from the anti-theft camera! Despite his bumps, Octoman is cocky his machine can vastly outrun Rick's duff old antique...when he finds the Dragon Ghost is waiting for him up the road! It begins to charge at him in a game of chicken, and Octoman is too flustered to react...but he doesn't need to, as the Dragon Ghost tilts up on its two side wheels, avoiding collision by mere inches. Scared witless, the Deep Claw crashes into a wall, its pilot cursing Rick's name. There's no time to rest yet - Clank contacts Rick and warns him the camera is recording his every move. He chucks it out the window, and Clank tells him he knows where the data is being sent. At the lakeside park, Miss Killer's feed goes dead just before Rick barges in. He thanks her for the exciting day off before demanding to know why he was being recorded. She explains she's keen to know the reason behind his consecutive victories, and the data will be passed on to Dark Million for further examination. Before he can stop her, she drives off in the Moon Shadow - not even his Dragon Ghost could catch up to that. Returning to headquarters, Rick is praised for single-handedly solving the stolen cars case - and on his day off, no less! The man's yearning for justice knows no bounds. To cap off the day, Jack shows him Clank's F-Zero homepage where all the boy's photos have ended up - photos of Rick fixing cars, eating burgers and tripping over tires now grace a heartfelt tribute to the racer Clank respects the most.   Director Tanaka has a mission for Jody Summer: a research group were sent to investigate a transport ship that crashlanded on Sand Ocean, but have not been heard from since, along with an unrelated mining crew. Due to the ruins near where it crashed, they believe the area is cursed. Jody sets out to investigate... The transport ship is a dire sight. Totally empty with no signs of life, dust and debris lining the walls...and her footsteps are the only sound to be heard. A sound comes from behind her, and she's surprised at what she finds - it's a boy! She asks him the wherabouts of the ship's crew, and the boy informs her they've all been killed...by Zoda and his troops. More footsteps emanate from behind them, and soon a wave of Dark Million robots are chasing them. The two flee, and Jody aids their escape by launching an energy web at the robots from her blaster. Meanwhile, Rick storms into the Falcon House, evidently not the first person to ask where Clank has disappeared to. Burt answers he had "something to do," and Jack assumes he's probably out dating if he's been gone all night. Lucy reminds him the boy might be avoiding him after he said to him the day before. Yesterday, Rick had found Clank snooping about in his Dragon Bird, analyzing its machine data. Lucy had admonished him for looking without permission, but Rick called him a mischevious computer cracker, a remark Clank objected to strongly. Maybe he should not have been so judgmental. Urgent business from Dr. Stewart calls the three Platoon members back to headquarters, forcing them to postpone the search for Clank. His café empty, Burt removes his apron. In the White Cat, Jody asks Clank why he was in that vessel, who explains he ran away from home to get aboard the transport ship. He asks why an old matron like her is investigating this, forcing Jody to formally introduce herself; after Clank introduces himself, she tells him to buton his lip from now on. Bad news, however - Zoda's forces are in hot pursuit! And they're packing heat! They open fire on the White Cat, but Jody boosts ahead to gain some distance. The chase leads them to the ruins where Jody tries to lose her enemies amidst all the corners. They successfully evade them by hiding behind some rocks, and the two believe they're safe. Not for long, however - they're sitting on a great big pile of quicksand! Not even the powerful boosters of an F-Zero machine can pull them out of this one, and the White Cat is pulled under. There's been no word from Jody since Tanaka assigned her to the mission, and the director is most upset; what if she turns into a mummy? Really, Tanaka?!? How will he explain that to the chief?! Not to worry - Rick, Jack and Lucy are on their way to Sand Ocean, travelling through the warp gate. Jody and Clank find themselves in a vast underground pit, lined with the bones of man and man-beast alike - they believe them to be the remains of the researchers. A horrible roar rumbles from deep in the pit, and they encounter what they believe to be the real explanation behind the curse...it's a bleedin' great scorpion thing! And what's worse, this is its nest! Jody lets loose with her blaster, but the shots have no impact whatsoever on the beast, even as it gets closer and closer...until it's looming right over Jody! A sound suddenly rings out, sending the beast stomping back to wherever it came from. Clank tapped into the White Cat's gravity direction separator, which, conveniently enough, uses the exact same frequency that the space scorpion uses to know it's not wanted. Jody is impressed by the boy's solution, and wants to know who he really is. Clank deems it unimportant. The two have a cave to explore! And what a cave! Gaping pools of fiery lava; impressive walls of steep rock; pits lined with spikes and traps that breathe fire. With a little bit of cooperation, the two get through the ordeal...and finally make their way back to the surface. Meanwhile, the three others have caught up to the transport ship, finding the robots Jody had blasted earlier, but no other signs of Dark Million or Jody. The Platoon wonder what would have brought the criminals here - but more importantly, what could be so valuable to them to prompt such an attack? The two survivors camp out in the ruins until morning, Jody watching the fire while Clank sleeps. The boy asks her if anyone would miss her if she died and was never found again...because he knows he wouldn't be. He's alone, and no one would grieve his loss. Before she can respond, the boy is fast asleep. Jody, in a brief flurry of maternal feelings, imagine what life would be like if Clank were her child. She tucks him in, and Clank unconsciously holds her hand, tears welling in his sleep. She accidentally notices a strange object stored on Clank's wrist computer...and not far away, the two are spotted by Zoda's sentries. Come morning, Clank wakes up to Jody reprimanding him, informing him that the object he had came from the transport ship, and she wishes to know what it is. Clank snatches it back and fesses up - it's a computer virus he made back when he was Zoda's hacker-for-hire, but the reason he got aboard the transport was to reclaim it and use it against Zoda. Unfortunately, Zoda wishes them good morning with a rocket launcher aimed at the ruins. The two leg it, but he and his Death Soldiers are there to give chase - and they haven't the White Cat to save them this time! Clank falls, but Jody raises him to his feet, visions of her as the mother he never had assisting him. However, running can only take them so far - there's an impassable gorge just ahead of them, and Zoda quickly have them cornered. He asks for one thing and one thing only: to have the virus returned to him. Imagine the planet-shattering destruction and mayhem he could cause with this thing! Jody tries playing dumb, but Clank offers to return the virus so long as Jody goes unharmed. Zoda promises, and takes the virus from him. Surprise! Zoda's a bit fat liar and aims his gun at Jody anyway. Clank tries to wrestle it from him only to get tossed on his arse - but he managed to gank the virus back in the process. Zoda is shocked for all of two seconds, before he realizes he's going to shoot him and take it from his corpse anyway. He fires one shot...and Jody takes it in her shoulderpad, blasting her and Clank back across the ground and off the cliff! He cries out over losing the virus, but even more trouble has come his way: Rick Wheeler and company have come to stop him! Zoda sics his robots on him, but Rick sets the Dragon Bird into a spin, spraying sand all over the robots' windscreens...allowing Jack to fly over a hill and crush them before they know what's coming. Lucy does the same trick, spraying sand over an escaping robot's windscreen so it crashes straight into a wall. Rick pursues Zoda, but the villain reminds him his allies have just fallen over a cliff; what will he do about that! Mercifully, Jody is holding onto Clank and has a handle on the cliffface...but given the strain on her cybernetic arm, she might not last for long! Suddenly, a cable is thrown over the cliff, allowing the two to climb up to safety. At the top, they find no one holding the cable; only a pin holding it down emblazoned with a falcon. The Platoon catch up to her, relieved she's safe, and are curious what Clank has been doing on this little escapade. While tugging the White Cat out of the quicksand, Clank has had enough of the trouble the virus has caused, and stomps it beneath his feet. His cracking days are over. He turns to Rick and offers him some enhanced data for his Dragon Bird that'll help it perform better; he apologizes for using it without permission (and the time he stole it, for good measure), and Rick apologizes for calling him a cracker. Jody is safe and the White Cat has been retrieved, so their business is done here. Rick offers Clank a ride as the Platoon prepare for a friendly race home, but Jody tells the boy he lied to her: he's not alone, he's surrounded by friends who love and care for him.   Lucy's Epic Duel Between Gomar-Shioh

  On the passenger warp gate to Earth, two peculiar lifeforms announce their ambitions in unison: to become the greatest villain the universe has ever seen! They deduce the quickest way to accomplish this would be to work under Black Shadow...but they have no F-Zero machine, nor the money to afford one. However will they make money on Earth...? In the Falcon House, Lucy is enjoying a selection of cakes when Rick and Jack begin calling her out on what a greedy gord she is. Even Clank gets in on fat shaming her by displaying the amount of calories in each mouthful, but Lucy refuses to fall to their unkind pressuring. She's enjoying this cake, and no ramifications will come of it! Back at headquarters, Lucy screams in horror: she's gained six pounds! The scale's gotta be lying, surely. Afterwards as she's bringing a part to Clash's garage, she overhears Rick and Clash talking in disbelief over the six pound weight gain. Clash says he likes it, but Rick hates it, saying he can't stand anything heavy. In actuality, they're talking about some adjustments to the Dragon Bird...but Lucy doesn't know, and is morally ashamed of their comments. She bumps into Rick exiting, who helps to her feet but remarks she feels heavier. That's the last straw - Lucy runs out in tears, begging to be left alone. She heads to the park and begins pushing herself to exercise. Jogging, skipping, sit-ups...but she gets exhausted quickly. Maybe she's not cut out for this. She's suddenly set upon by two aliens who have heard of her plight, and have just the solution for it - the Bobo Bag, a backpack filled with expensive crystal that improves her muscle tone and induces weight loss! Just don't open it, though. Lucy is over the moon until she hears the price...but there's only two left and it's guaranteed to work. How could she miss out? Back at the police station, Rick meets Lucy again and notices she's sweating. Wearing the Bobo Bag, she remarks she's on a strict diet and exercise regime, and Rick remembers his comments earlier; he tells her not to worry about it. He'll still be rooting for her efforts and leaves, but Lucy's excitement causes her to drop the Bobo Bag, busting it open. It's full of plain old stones! Marching back to the park to give them a piece of her mind, she notices a lot of park-goers carrying strange-looking golden goblets - another scheme from the two aliens. She shows them the bag and its contents, and they explain the crystals turn to stone once they're exposed to air...but that doesn't mean she's out of luck! These golden goblets allow whoever drinks from them to lose six pounds of weight! Now, about the price... Lucy returns to the Falcon House and orders a drink in her goblet, boasting about its properties. Clank is shocked at the price and bets it's a scam...and he'd be right. The goblet has scuffed just from washing, and it's just an ordinary cup beneath its gold paint. Lucy returns to berate the two, but is interrupted when a contraction is plopped on her head. It's the Diet Helmet, said to stimulate mind and body alike! Now, about the price... Lucy ends up falling for every sale the two propose - the Dream Fulfilling Pot, the Magic Shoes, the Super Quilt, all pitched to help bring about the trim, healthy bod she's been dreaming of. Her latest purchase is the duo's special Tea, and she brings it to the rest of the Platoon excited about its potential. Thankfully, Dr. Stewart is on hand to sample it and give her his expert opinion: this stuff is bunk. She just bought some ordinary tea. Vexed something fierce, Lucy finally storms down to their office and slams the door open: she has a complaint to make! The place is empty. Hearing voices from the back, she barges in there and finds Gomar and Shioh arguing over spare parts, blaming each other for breaking them. Upon seeing her the two hide in fear, begging to know what she's come down here for. Lucy, however is distracted by the subject of their argument: they're building an F-Zero machine! Asking to know where it came from, the two give a sob story: their parents died when they were young, and the two have scraped by on odd jobs and pennies all to accomplish their dream...to build an F-Zero machine. Lucy is moved to tears. The two bemoan their machine's critical flaw: the machine can't fit two people, but the two act as one; it's not unlike dying should the two of them separate. Lucy looks over their machine and notices its flaws, but that should hardly stop them from racing. She wants to make their dream come true, and she'll build it herself if she has to! The two are taken aback by her kindness. At the Galaxy Mobile Platoon base, Jody shows the group a report of two criminals, Gomar and Shioh, leaving planet Huckmine to build an F-Zero machine, and are wanted for fraud across the galaxy. They don't know if the duo are working for Zoda, but to be safe, Jack and Rick are to keep an eye on them. The two ponder if those are the two who've been scamming Lucy for so long. For that matter, they haven't seen Lucy in a few days. What's she up to? The two set out to look for her when they run into Clash, who hands them some parts to give to Lucy if they find her, as she's apparently fixing up somebody's machine. Then that means--! Lucy could be in danger! The two rush out into the city to track her down. Lucy, Gomar and Shioh all set to work on her specifications for their ship, and with a bit of sweat and elbow grease, finally having a finished machine in their hands! The ship is light to compensate for the two pilots, but the two are moved to tears by her dedication to their plight. "It would be great if all F-Zero pilots were like you", she remarks, wondering why Dark Million must be a blight upon the sport... The two jump at the mention of the name. She says it again, and the two begin sweating. She catches herself on - there's no reason two little guys like these should know of a criminal organization or its leader, Black Shadow! Lucy begins the final touches on the machine as the two step outside for some fresh air. Gomar and Shioh sigh in relief - that was a close shave. This is only their first step towards being the world's greatest villains; Black Shadow is their idol! They would love nothing more than to work for him, but they would need to win a few races before catching his attention. Unfortunately for them, Rick and Jack see them and demand to know where Lucy is. They try to catch the Furikakes, but the aliens are too wriggly and send them on a wild goose chase before ducking back inside their office. Gomar and Shioh are nowhere to be seen, but Lucy is working happily on the machine and takes the spare part from them. Now it's complete! Rick and Jack are impressed with her handiwork...as are Gomar and Shioh, who hop in and make their getaway. Lucy stops her allies from following - they can't take their dream from them! - and is impressed at how fast it is. Rick and Jack can't believe Lucy for what she's done. At the Falcon House, she praises herself for her good deed while the others try to inform her that the two are fraudsters - they effectively robbed her a few days ago! That's a non-issue to her now, they were only trying to accomplish their dream. Speaking of their dream, they'll be participating in tomorrow's race! Before the race, Lucy stops by to give Gomar and Shioh her support, and also a quick tip: the booster on their machine is fragile, so it can only be used twice. The race begins, and the Twin Norrita is instantly ahead of the competition, its zippy acceleration whisking it ahead of the pack. Rick catches up to them, eager to keep them from winning, but one boost from the duo's ship leaves the Dragon Bird in the dust. Unwelcome to newcomers, Bio Rex and Octoman team up to try and squash the duo between their machines...but another well-timed boost leaves the two villains colliding in an explosive wreck. Can nothing stop Gomar and Shioh? It's the final lap and the Dragon Bird and Astro Robin are on the leader's tail, but still unable to put a stop in their progress. Lucy is overjoyed - Gomar and Shioh could very well be champions by the end of this race! Rick overtakes with a well-timed boost, sending the duo into a panic...and they perform a third boost, decimating the Twin Norrita. Lucy did tell them of their machine's limitations, but it's too late now...their dreams are over! Rick takes first place, and after the race the two scam artists are led into police custody. Lucy comes rushing up to them, wishing them the best on making up for their mistakes and finally reaching their dream...and if they ever return to racing, the Twin Norrita will be waiting for them! The two are taken away with smiles on their faces, and Jody approaches to praise Lucy for building such a remarkable machine: she awaits the challenge of facing it herself sometime. At the Falcon House, Lucy orders another of her favorite cakes, only to be told she's out of money. Burt offers it to her on the house when Clank reminds her, isn't she supposed to be on a diet for Rick's affections? Forget him, Rick's a chump. Elsewhere, he bangs his head on the hood of his Dragon Bird. Okay, so he doesn't bang his head at the end - he sneezes. This is a joke in Japanese culture where if someone sneezes unexpectedly, it's because someone, somewhere, is talking about them. (thanks, Nintendo Direct!) There's some sort of joke where Gomar and Shioh say "you'll catch a cold" after Lucy offers them her help (and rolls up her sleeves - don't tell me that's the whole gag?!); I assume the same joke applies, that Lucy will make such a name for herself everyone will be talking about her and giving her the sneezies.   The Dissaperance of Mrs. Arrow

  In the blizzard-strewn stretches of White Land, Super Arrow does battle with another competitor on the race track. The two machines strike their hulls together as they fight for the lead, a nasty corner looming on the horizon...and the King Meteor is knocked off the track, crashing into the snow below. Super Arrow can think of only one thing: his wife calling his name. At the Galaxy Mobile Platoon base, Jody briefs her squad on the upcoming race at White Land - the track is at the foot of a mountain, and numerous accidents have occured in the past because of avalanches. The only safety measure are barricades in areas routinely struck by snowstorms...aside from that, the racers are on their own. Still, difficult races result in tremendous prize money, so the Platoon aim to give this race their all. On White Land, Mrs. Arrow is trawling the course in her Queen Meteor, thinking back to a dinner with her husband: Super Arrow admitted he was not going to be participating in this race and refused to say why, walking out solemnly despite her pleas. In response to this, Mrs. Arrow is scouting out the track, getting a record of every threat and treacherous element it will have in store for them. Elsewhere, Zoda is first inspecting the planet's weather control system before reporting in with his Death Soldiers, who are searching for buried treasure: the snowstorm has made it difficult for them. Zoda suggests they'll need to alter the weather - they want to be doing this before the race draws attention to the area. However, they observe an F-Zero machine nearby - the Queen Meteor! She's done all that she came for, so being chased by robots is no issue. Her machine is more than enough to outrace them. Zoda's Death Anchor leaps from overhead, roaring down in an attempt to crush her...and the shockwave sends Mrs. Arrow spiralling out of control, her machine plunging down a deep chasm. That's one troublemaker taken care of; Zoda orders his robots to prevent anyone else from approaching the weather control system. At the Falcon House, Rick is chugging back a coffee when Burt comments on how dangerous the upcoming race is; Clank remarks the planet uses man-made winds and weather modification to increase the danger. Super Arrow makes a surprise appearance, coming in all celebrations and smiles...before slumping into an awful gloom, asking them if they've seen his wife. This is the second time he's come asking for her; she left without a word and he's lost without her. He apologizes to Clank for showing a superhero at his weakest - the unflattering side of the envoy of justice - when his owl suddenly receives a faint and weak SOS from Mrs. Arrow! No matter how much he shakes his owl, Super Arrow can't get in touch with her. Given the signal, Clank presumes the call came from a distant planet, and it's just as the hero feared: she's gone to White Land. He confesses he hasn't the will to attend the race tomorrow, but when pressed for an answer he reveals why...it's just too darn chilly! However, his wife went there after his failed attempt to learn the track, so it's only right if he mans up and saves her. And Rick can help him out, right? He sighs. The two arrive at White Land and begin exploring, scouting out the mountains and calling her name, but to no avail. Super Arrow writes her nickname on his windscreen, thinking of her fondly... He receives a call from Rick, who's had no further luck finding her. He asks why she would come to this place, and Super Arrow gives an answer to a different question: when he had his fateful crash his last time here, he would have died in the ice had Mrs. Arrow not come and rescued him. He suddenly receives another owl-transmission from his wife, weakly asking for help and mentioning Zoda's name...he must be the man responsible! The two resume their search. Deep in the chasm, the Queen Meteor remains trapped in the snowfall. Mrs. Arrow is cooped inside, trying to keep warm off the last of her machine's energy, but even that is trickling down to nothing... While Super Arrow fumbles in the snow, Rick sees Zoda and his men passing by on a high mountain path. What could they be up to? Returning to the weather control system, Zoda laments they'll never find the treasure in their current state, and they can't return to Black Shadow without a reward! Their only option is to disable the weather control, stopping the snowfall. While driving along the mountain, Rick and Super Arrow find themselves in the path of an incoming avalanche! Rick uses math to solve this dilemma - if an avalanche's average speed is 255 km/h, then pushing their machines to max speed should help them evade it! They get through safely while Zoda curses from the clifftop. He was sure that would've worked. His robots continue to detonate charges, causing even more avalanches to erupt along the path, but they're no match for the speed of the Dragon Bird and King Meteor. The two encounter their next obstacle - the path ahead is like polished ice, not unlike a skiing lane. Super Arrow has his concerns, but there's no other option, they've gotta take it! The two manage to conquer the path, giving the superhero some confidence, before arriving safely at the bottom. Super Arrow sends his owl, Zukk, to go search for his wife, and to tell her his courageous husband is on the way! Rick warns him that Zukk will probably attract the attention of Zoda - Super Arrow cares not. He would do anything if it helps his wife return to him. Poignancy aside, Zoda and his troops immediately zone in on them. Rick is prepared to take them on alone, but the King Meteor charges at them headfirst. This is his battle! It doesn't go well. After watching Zoda knock Super Arrow down a hole, Rick thumps the robots' machines aside with some slick spinning. The King Meteor falls only a short distance, and its pilot disembarks...only to find himself stepping out into a bloody gaping pit! He ends up falling into it, but lands harmlessly only to find exactly what he wanted: the Queen Meteor! He calls her name but gets no response, and cranks open the cockpit, holding her in his arms...and her eyes finally open. "Darling!" The two embrace, relieved the two are safe and happy to be in each others' company once more. Zukk can't bear to watch. Mrs. Arrow is impressed he came this far for her sake, and on his own, no less! However, isn't he afraid of the cold? "I'm not cold..." "I'm back in business!" Meanwhile, Zoda's Death Anchor is in the middle of pushing the Dragon Bird off a ledge...not even it has the power to fight back! Super Arrow arrives in the nick of time, pushing the Dragon Bird aside and leaving the Death Anchor to zoom right off the cliff. Rick is happy to hear Mrs. Arrow over the transmitter, the two reunited. Zoda, on the other hand, is pretty miffed, and he turns the weather control back on to bring snowfall, hoping they'll all just freeze to death. However, an engine noise is heard in the distance, and it's coming closer...it's the Blue Falcon! Captain Falcon tosses him a package before getting the heck out of dodge - it's a stack of dynamite, and its detonation completely obliterates the weather control system in a spectacular explosion. Rick and company watch the destruction, and see the Blue Falcon making its exit. The official White Land race is about to start; the weather control system may be history, but Jody still warns the Platoon of potential avalanches. The race begins, and the Dragon Bird and King Arrow are fighting for first; they may be friends, but the gloves are off when it comes to racing! As warned, an avalanche rains upon the track, but all the racers pass through without injury. The course leads to a twisting track high over the mountains, and Rick and Super Arrow continue to battle for dominance...only for a new racer to toss their machines right off the track like ragdolls. It's the Queen Meteor! Marooned on the rocks, Rick pins the blame on the superhero's poor racing etiquette - you don't overtake on a winding road, you dunce! - but at this point it doesn't matter. The winner is announced from the loudspeakers, and it's Mrs. Arrow! To her husband, this is an incredible victory, and it wouldn't have been possible were it not for him!   The Feverish Womens' Battle!!

  Lucy is looking over footage from last year's Ladies Race - Jody Summer vs. Lisa Brilliant! Kate Alen vs. Mrs. Arrow! - and explaining it to Rick, who's confounded by the very idea of an F-Zero race just for women. It only occurs once a year, but whoever wins is crowned Miss Galaxy, a most glamourous title! Jody won it last year, but Lucy's got her sights on it this time. The Ladies Race doesn't go ignored in Dark Million's space base - Black Shadow doesn't even need to ask Miss Killer to participate, she's already got it in her schedule. If she wins, her master declares he would be happy to leave Mute City in her capable hands, a remark that really rankles Zoda. Even at the Falcon House the Ladies Race is on everybody's lips! Being crowned Miss Galaxy is a title most girls could only dream of, and Clank and Jack are smitten with the thought of all the lovely ladies taking part. Burt reminds them just because they're women the race is going to be easy - they're just as nasty as a regular F-Zero race, if not nastier. Mrs. Arrow finishes up some practicing with the help of her husband, who's a little put-out at the thought of the big race. Super Arrow fears if she's crowned Miss Galaxy, he'll be too insignifcant to garner her affections. That's hogwash, she says, and the two reaffirm their love for each other...but Zukk squawks in surprise--and the two find themselves surrounded by a group of Death Soldiers! This is no one-off incident. Kate Alen silently vanishes after one of her performances, and Lisa Brilliant's space pirate ship, the Excellent Queen, comes under attack from a Dark Million battle station. Kate's manager, Gordon, comes to the Galaxy Mobile Platoon about her vanishing, sharing his grief with super fan John Tanaka. What's most confusing of all is that no ransom demands have been sent. Dr. Stewart informs Rick and Jack that whoever's performing these kidnappings must have their sights on Jody and Lucy, so the two of them will have to act as bodyguards. But dudes can't join the Ladies Race! Lucy has just the answer: Crossdressing! In a Dark Million holding cell, Lisa Brilliant is thrown in among the other prisoners: Kate Allen, Mrs. Arrow and Super Arrow. Miss Killer delights in getting rid of her competition, but Zoda isn't far away with a snide remark, laughing that she can't even win without cheating. Miss Killer reminds him she'll be his superior soon - he might want to be nicer to her. The Platoon board their spaceship, the Galaxy Runner, on their way to the Ladies Race on Beach Star when Jody finally sees her bodyguards. You can think Dr. Stewart for the re-tailoring. (EAD won't be assisting, sadly) Rick and Jack investigate the garage, trying to keep an eye out for any suspicious figures (and keep their eyes off the female mechanics) when a screen displays one of the participating racers: Miss Killer! Not far away, the Platoon aren't the only ones pulling this charade: Zoda has entered Octoman and Bio Rex into the race to prevent Miss Killer from winning, each in their own ill-fitting dress. Unfortunately, the four outsiders bump into each other, surprised their rivals are participating and they begin criticizing each others' attire, attracting the attention of the mechanics. They quickly pull high-pitched voices and apologize, hoping they weren't sassed out. Lucy and Jody are busy preparing their machines for the upcoming race...when Miss Killer snatches Lucy and holds a knife to her throat! She demands Jody to forfeit the race, otherwise she'll kill the "Useless girl". Lucy argues she's not useless, she's won a race before, back in the Crystal Cup. Miss Killer argues that was pure fluke. Rick and Jack appear with their pistols drawn, but Miss Killer throws Lucy at them and makes her getaway. Jack gives chase, but snaps the heel off his shoes and fails to catch her. Lucy isn't hurt, but her ego is - that's a low blow, criticizing her victory like that! Octoman and Bio Rex were there to witness Miss Killer's attack, and they're ready to give up - they're not tough enough to stand up to her! Zoda is most displeased when this is reported to him; there's no way he's going to lose rule of Mute City to a cheating dame like Miss Killer! Meanwhile, Super Arrow is tired of sitting in a jail cell, and puts his super heroics to good use. He grips the doors and begins pulling, successfully sliding them open -- and encountering a mob of robots waiting for him. They pummel him and throw him back inside, Mrs. Arrow eager to attend to her husband. Kate Alen calls Super Arrow a joke of a man if he can't get them out of a jam like this - the race is due to start at any moment. Lisa Brilliant recognizes Kate Alen and is disgusted she's taking part - why would a famous diva who's already got everything need yet another title under her belt? Mrs. Arrow tells them to cool off, but she gets shouted down. All she does is attend to her husband; she's even worse than that useless dope! The guards outside are destroyed and the cell door sliced to ribbons - Samurai Goroh to the rescue! He's shocked at what he finds inside - the three women arguing and pulling each others' hair, even going so low as to criticise the dryness of their scalps. This was not what he expected to find. The women are freed in time to have their machines ready on the starting grid, and there's already feuds brewing before the race begins - Lucy vs. Miss Killer, Kate Alen against Lisa Brilliant. Rick and Jack are intrigued to see how the race pans out. The race begins and Kate's Super Piranha and Lisa's Panzer Emerald are out in the lead, already banging their machines against each other. Only one of them's gonna make it to the finish line! The Queen Meteor takes after the Moon Shadow, seeking revenge against Miss Killer...but Mrs. Arrow falls off the course following a sharp turn. Lucy vows to pick up where she left off and challenges Miss Killer to a stand-off. The Moon Shadow races off without so much as acknowledging her. "Why do you look down on me?" If words won't attract her attention, then showing her what she's capable of will! Lucy pulls a plunger in her cockpit, launching panels off of the Elegance Liberty and exposing hidden weapon caches! Jody begs her to obey the rules of the race, but Lucy's gone off the deep end. She launches a cluster of missiles from her machine (Clash is impressed!), all aimed at Miss Killer! The Moon Shadow narrowly evades the blasts, while Mr. Zero reminds the audience that military warfare is against the rules of F-Zero - Lucy has been disqualified! Kate Alen and Lisa Brilliant are still having a bit of a scrap, but Kate comes out on top, putting the Panzer Emerald out of commission and giving her the lead. Lisa's not going down without a fight - she summons the Excellent Queen down from space to drop bombs upon the track, eventually launching the Super Piranha off the track. Pirate ships are against the rules! Mr. Zero disqualifies Lisa, but is nearly struck by a missile for his troubles. Rick and Jack are flabbergasted - this isn't a race anymore, this is war! With four racers out of the equation, the Moon Shadow is now in the lead, but a new machine quickly advances from the rear: it's Zoda! He's taken matters into his own hands, but Miss Killer isn't taking this sitting down. She slows down and gets behind the Death Anchor before boosting, ramming it into the dirt. Launched out of his machine, Zoda narrowly avoids the incoming racers and is exposed for his trickery: men aren't allowed in the Ladies Race, "even if you look like a girl!" That wasn't his only trick; making a signal with a magical girl gesture, a Dark Million battle station suddenly looms over the race track, raining laser fire on everything below! This can't keep up! If this madness continues, Mr. Zero will have to announce the race's cancellation! This vexes Miss Killer even more - all her work for naught! The White Cat finally catches up to the Moon Shadow and the two duel for first place, evading laser fire the whole time. Miss Killer tries to get under Jody's skin, calling her too cold and heartless to be a sufficient Miss Galaxy. She shows no response, but Jody has a retort lined up. Pressing a few buttons on her transmitter, the Galaxy Runner begins transforming and reconfiguring its hull, unleashing an enormous cannon! She equips the appropriate eye protection gear and unleashes the storm. The blast and its shockwave knocks the Moon Shadow clear off the course...and disintegrates what's left of the track. Mr. Zero gets the heck out of dodge, declaring the race officially over, and the stadium pulls out. "The conflict between women is brutal," Burt informs Clank. "You understand now?" The Platoon depart on the Galaxy Runner, while Lucy and Jody reflect on the race. It wasn't fair - Jody had that race in the bag before they cancelled it.   The warp gate orbiting planet Earth is seeing its usual traffic of transport ships passing through. One such ship encounters some nasty turbulence, but it quickly subsides, chalking it up to the gravitational pull. What they don't know is the warp gate is damaged and sparking! Director Tanaka has orders to send the Galaxy Mobile Platoon to the warp gate to investigate and fix it. Jody fears for the safety of her Platoon, but F-Zero machines and their gravity drives are the safest option to access the warp gates' internals. If the warp gate fails, it might fall towards Earth; they're currently awaiting reports from another team currently up there. The first team have made their way to the warp gate, and have indeed seen the damage - this thing could fall apart at any moment! Unfortunately, the unstable gravity field crushes their machine to the size of a beach ball, killing the lot of them. Lucy reports to the Platoon that the investigation "failed" (that's one way of putting it), so they're up next. Rick's eager to take part, but Jack cracks wise about his age, saying an old relic like him would be no use to them; even Lucy's attempt at defending Rick ends up insulting him. He storms out, and EAD scolds the two for being so inconsiderate. He cools down in the garage by spending some time with his Dragon Bird. Clash enters, and Rick asks him about his machine - who made it, and where did it come from? The engine was handed down from the higher-ups, but it's otherwise a mystery. That resonates with Rick - two lost souls whose histories are misunderstood. The warp gate's state has worsened and all access has been closed off, causing protesting on the streets. While Jody takes EAD with her on a secret mission, Rick chills at the Falcon House and listens to Clank read the news reports predicting all the awful crap that's going to happen. He asks Rick if he has any inside scoop on this - he's an F-Zero pilot and a police officer, after all! - but Rick has nothing. He's just here to drink his coffee. Suddenly, a tremor strikes Mute City, blacking out all the electronics; even the information panels in the sky. Clank presumes this is a side effect from the warp gate's gravity malfunctions. Rick receives a call from headquarters: EAD has been gravely injured! While Clash fixes up their robot partner, Dr. Stewart reveals Jody is partially responsible for his damage. The Platoon believe Jody doesn't trust them with the assignment, but in actuality, she did not want them involved for their own safety. You see, she, EAD and the doctor had been up in the warp gate trying to resolve the problem... The three of them had planned to use the Sandwich Burst - the technique Miss Killer used a while back - to create radiant energy that would hopefully seal the Gravity Ring that's causing all this trouble. It would be risky, but being part-machine and EAD being a robot, she hoped it would be the least endangering option. Jody's White Cat led the way while the Golden Fox and Great Star boosted side by side, awaiting her to loop around. The Sandwich Burst generated energy more powerful than they could handle, causing EAD to spin out and crash in a fiery wreck, and Jody's machine to disappear through a warp hole! The Platoon are shocked by this news, and what's worse, there's no predicting where she could have landed up! Lucy tries examining the White Cat's recorded data, hoping that'll give them some sort of clue...but the data she finds is unintelligible to humans. Only a computer engineer could comprehend it. Meanwhile, Jody finds herself on an unknown planet and no communication with her allies. She begins exploring, hoping to find a landmark of some kind...and ends up discovering a whole fleet of docked Dark Million battle stations! She's quickly noticed and attacked by the robot sentries, and she makes returning fire as she flees. Zoda watches this from his command center and is most vexed; how did she find Dark Million's base of operations?! Rick calls upon Clank and brings him to the police station, taking him up to the highest floor, floor 179...and taking him even further, after presenting his ID to the elevator's security. Clank is confounded - then that means...this is the home base of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon, the Elite Mobile Task Force, and Rick has been a member of it this whole time! Clank is blown away; so this is why Rick is so cool! He's taken to the central computer, and he has no trouble at all adapting to it. He's left to his work - he needs to analyze that data to pinpoint where Jody is, otherwise they're never going to find her again. Speaking of Jody, she's got an entire crowd of robots and mechanical dogs hot on her trail. She narrowly avoids them by hiding in a river, but she can only keep this up for so long. The Platoon board the Galaxy Runner and approach the warp gate, ready to have another shot at the Sandwich Burst. Jack calls dibs on the middle and boosts ahead while Rick and Lucy maintain their parallel boost energies. They pull it off without injury, and it looks like they got a result - the gate returned to its ordinary color for a moment! However, it quickly turns back to a scalding red and resumes sparking. They need more power! The three put more and more power into their boosts, but they keep getting the same ineffectual response. Their machines are eventually left burnt out with no result to show for it, but Rick is desperate to continue - they can't give up now! They hear a sound, and a shape approaches from behind them... It's the Blue Falcon! Captain Falcon beckons Rick to follow after him, commanding him to disable his control system. Rick complies, and finds a brand new HUD replacing his ordinary dashboard! This alone gives the Dragon Bird greater boosting power; pleased, Captain Falcon turns and boosts the other way. "Boost Fire!" Jody is still fleeing from Zoda's forces, who wishes to capture her as a gift for Black Shadow. She eventually flees back to the White Cat but has no luck starting it...and finds herself cornered by an entire army of robots and hounds. She's in for it now. Meanwhile, Clank has finally cracked it - he knows where she is! As the Dragon Bird and Blue Falcon loop around, their machines clip, sending them into a hyper-powered spin state. On their second pass, the two machines clash into each other, rebounding clean off and producing a massive spark of energy - the Gravity Ring is being sealed! This is just in time for Clank to enter the coordinates into the repaired warp gate, granting Jody a warp hole to take her back to inside the warp gate. The Platoon welcome their captain back with open arms, and she's pleased they sorted the problem without her...well, with a little help from Captain Falcon, who leaves without notice on his Falcon Flyer. Back at headquarters, Lucy and Jack apologize for being so ageist towards Rick, but that's all water off a duck's back by now. Clank passes by, informing them he's made some coffee in the break room -- wait a second, who let Clank hang around?! Don't worry, he's not a squatter - Jody has made him an official member of the Galaxy Mobile Platoon, with his own key badge and everything. He's already proved useful to them, and is sure to be a great help in the future.   Running Through! Spin Booster!!

  Another day, another race that Rick's bound to win. He's miles ahead of the competition and gloating to Jack about his upcoming victory, when the Blue Falcon effortlessly sweeps ahead of him! Try as he might, Captain Falcon isn't letting him overtake, blocking his every move. Rick feels challenged - Captain Falcon saved his bacon the last time he met. Could this be another test? He boosts as they approach a corner, taking the lead on the inside...only for the Blue Falcon to drift behind him to his other side, securing the inside for himself! This surprise tactic throws Rick off his game and he spins out, allowing Captain Falcon to take first place, Jack Levin in second. Rick is embittered by his loss, reflecting on it long after the race is over. The Platoon try to urge him home, but Rick is unmoving. Lucy thought Captain Falcon was on their side, but after a sneaky move like that, she's not so sure. Clash reminds her Captain Falcon is a bounty hunter who's only in it for the money...but Jack remarks that Rick's becoming predictable. Taking the inside lane might sound smart, but his Astro Robin moves faster on the outside. They reassure him that his Dragon Bird isn't faulty, and in the replay they see just how impassable Falcon really was. Rick suddenly hops in his machine and drives off, eager to see how much he pales in comparison to the Blue Falcon. He tries the corners again, but no matter how he handles them, he envisions the Blue Falcon blocking his every move. Rick, Jack and Clank take the argument to the Falcon House, where Burt confesses he still hasn't seen the race. Rick knows he's fast enough to beat Falcon, but Burt asks him a question: has his driving technique remained unchanged since 2051? F-Zero machines do have safety features, you know. That's it! Rick remembers when he was told to disable the Dragon Bird's control system, showing its true power. Driving the safety features is like driving with the brakes on - without them, he'll have true control over his machine! Jack asks him if he's out of his mind - an F-Zero machine would go berserk without the safety reining it in! Rick has his mind set on it and leaves, thanking Burt for his advice. At the test track, Clash and Lucy are there to also warn Rick about what he's got in mind, but as far as he's concerned, it's his only shot at trumping Captain Falcon. He disables his control system, prays for the best and hits the accelerator. He immediately begins spinning like a buckin' bronco, applying the brakes just in time before he hurts them. Lucy and Clash call to say they told him so, threatening to withdraw their services on his machine, but that's not stopping him - he's eager to tame this beast! Rick hits the road again, his machine wobbling furiously while he tries to swallow his fear. He mananges to finish one lap, but Clash won't even tell him his time, it was that bad. It didn't hurt to try, though the two promise to help him out a different way...only for Jack to appear, calling him a big wuss for giving up so soon. What good is he if he doesn't give it his all? The two return to the track against Lucy's pleas, but they've got a point to make here and nothing will stop them. Rick tries to recall what he and Falcon performed back at the warp gate... He boosts and sets his machine into a wild spin, giving him a serious speed advantage - maintaining control is the tricky part! He loses his cool as he rounds a corner and the Dragon Bird loses its control, just as the Astro Robin tries to boost on the inside... The two machines crunch against the wall before the Astro Robin flips on its roof, grinding against the ground in a spectacular crash. Both machines are battered, but Rick is shaken by what may have happened to Jack! In the medical bay, he is slapped for what he's done to Jack, who also receives a scolding for facilitating this behavior. Jack remarks he only wanted to improve Rick's chances of winning...and Jody shares the sentiment, but the mission of the Platoon holds priority over their childish rivalry with Captain Falcon. Rick returns to the garage to examine the damage; Clash reminds him he can always fix the Dragon Bird, but human injury is out of his hands. Having examined what he was trying to do, he confirms that it's possible: spinning the machine with the power of its booster. The Spin Booster. However, it's so taxing upon the machine that it can only be used once per race before seeking repairs, and he doesn't recommend it either way. Losing control for only a second can have grave results, as Jack has shown them. Meanwhile in one of Dark Million's battle stations, The Skull is at work on his dark magic, seeking a means of defeating Captain Falcon. His cards suggest Jody Summer is the key to defeating him, and armed with the dark magic of his ancestors, nothing will stop him! The next big race is ready to begin at Wave Panic; Captain Falcon has his eye on Rick even from the starting grid, so the pressure's on him already. Jack calls in to wish him luck from the base, now well enough to walk on crutches. He tells Rick not to worry about his wellbeing, but to give this race 110%! Jody listens in to the conversation approvingly, but is oblivious that something has been planted on the underside of her White Cat - a magic card. The Skull has his trap set, it's just a matter of time until he activates it... The race is underway, and right from the beginning Captain Falcon has taken first place. Rick puts his pedal to the metal and whizzes passed the rest of the competition - faster than he's ever been seen before! He catches up to the Blue Falcon and apologizes for keeping him waiting, before going through the same charade as before - whichever way he goes, Captain Falcon is there to block him. Coming to the corner, Rick pulls out his Spin Booster, overtaking the Captain for one brief moment...before petering out and losing his spin, slowing down and falling a few positions. Jody kicks the man while he's down, telling Rick the Galaxy Mobile Platoon has no place for losers and he'd best leave if he hasn't a reason to race. This is just what he needs to ignite his racing spirit, and the two unite to give this race their all. Not far behind, however, is The Skull in his Sonic Phantom, who summons dark spirits into the card on the White Cat, turning it into a vessel under his control! Jody is shocked as the machine behaves on its own, boosting forward of its own volition to ram the Blue Falcon in its rear! Jody is powerless to stop it, and Captain Falcon is apparently incapable of moving out of her way, giving the Sonic Phantom the chance to slip into first place. Rick catches up to Jody and asks Captain Falcon to lend him a hand in stopping her, with her permission. The two box in the White Cat and push it towards the barrier, grinding it against the wall until it conks out, exorcised of its malicious spirits. The Blue Falcon resumes the race and Jody urges Rick to continue - he's obviously got a score to settle. It's onto the final lap, and the Dragon Bird is still eating Falcon's dust...he's got to win this race! Getting a little too close for comfort, The Skull sics a trio of lackeys to box in Rick and hold him back. They've got him cornered: he can't accelerate, brake or move to the side. This calls for only one thing: Boost Fire! He rockets ahead, the goons following after...only to plough right into his Spin Booster! The Dragon Bird spins like a top, gaining immense speed and knocking racers aside like tiddlywinks, ultimately nailing first place for himself. The Skull can't believe he lost at the last second, but Captain Falcon smiles knowingly. After the race, Rick wishes to talk to Captain Falcon personally, but he's a man of few words. He commends him on a great race, and tells him to "watch your boost timing." Jody catches a glimpse of him before he leaves, feeling like she recognizes him, but he's gone in the blink of an eye.   Octoman's Dream

  At spaceport TCR01, a suspicious, spheroid spaceship approaches, requesting permission for landing. It docks, revealing its curious octopus-inspired design, and its colonel steps out onto the platform. "Is this...Earth?" John Tanaka is in a meeting with the chief of the Galaxy Police, The Commissioner, who explains these are visitors from planet Takora. Their planet's government disagreed with the peace treaty from long ago and has been embroiled in bitter war ever since. Their visit is purely a sightseeing tour, but for political safety, the Galaxy Mobile Platoon has been entrusted with protecting them. Asked if he's up to the task, Tanaka states he's more than capable of it...but the moment he's out the door, he fobs the job onto Rick and Lucy. Meanwhile, Octoman receives an urgent call to the spaceport, but he and Bio Rex have no interest in being there. The Takora colonel and his fellow Takoraians finally find him and are overcome with joy, but Octoman tries to quiet them down - they don't know he's in a criminal organisation! The tentacled crowd thank Octoman from the bottom of their hearts for his generous donation to their planet, and will be there to cheer him for his upcoming race - that'll be his tenth consecutive win for sure! Bio Rex is confused and about to ask what they're talking about, but Octoman corrects them - this'll be his thirteenth consecutive win! Rick, Lucy and Tanaka are watching from afar, and Rick's getting riled up - that slippery cephalopod's a big fibber, he couldn't race his way out of a paper bag! Why haven't they arrested him for stealing those classic cars already?! The director reminds him that Octoman is a hero on Takora, being the only racer from their planet; arresting him in front of his adoring fans could spur a political incident. Rick doesn't give a toss, he's itching to bust that fish! Octoman convinces Bio Rex into cheering for him as well, and the two attempt a comedy routine, though it fails to impress the colonel. A hand slips onto Octoman's shoulder... "Hey, great hero." The fish tries to bail, but Rick holds him back and pressures him into owning up. The Takora people are aghast - who is this stranger, and why is he manhandling their idol?! Tanaka appears in the nick of time to remind him peacekeeping is their utmost objective here, and introduces himself to the colonel, stating the Galaxy Police will serve as security during their visit. The Takoraians are overjoyed - they're being treated like kings, and it's all thanks to Octoman! "Thank you, director! Many thanks!" "Don't touch me." The colonel presents Octoman with a medal, and the Takoraians tell Tanaka and Rick of how generous their hero is; were it not for him donating his prize money to their planet, Takora would still be in an impoverished and inhospitable state. Rick begins to change his tune towards the villain; maybe he's not so bad after all. Bio Rex, Octoman and the three Platoon members escort their tour bus to the hotel, which Octoman paid for out of his own pocket. But he owes people money, and he's still got a welcome party to pay for... Rick is eager to ditch this gig and go to the test track, but Tanaka reminds him this is of the utmost importance. John's got his own concerns, though; for starters, he hopes the Takoraians don't trash the hotel! Well, close enough. They're crawling over anything and everything, having an absolute ball. This is the best they've ever been treated! The hotel staff and poor Lucy just have to grin and bear it. Outside, Octoman begs Rick's cooperation, to leave him be until the Takoraian guests return to their planet, "promising" to surrender after the race. Anyway, does Rick know where he can bum some cash? Octoman offers to trade him his medal, a rare Takoraian treasure sure to be worth a packet, but Rick objects. Who would trust that slippery cephalopod?? Tanaka approaches the two, also asking Rick for money; he's got none to spare, and he's got a twenty-year mortgage to pay for. He finally obliges to spare the squid some dough, who's incredibly grateful. The welcome party is set outside the Falcon House, and the Takoraians have another grand old time. Burt is pleasantly surprised that Octoman has so many fans, but Clank doesn't trust him; his father told him "liars keep on lying." Octoman boasts that Captain Falcon will be participating in the next race, but he'll be no match for his sweet squid skills. Burt tells him the Captain won't be participating in the next race: even better! Saves him the trouble of embarrassing himself! Clank asks Burt how he knew this. Oh, just a hunch. In Dark Million's space base, Black Shadow is giving Zoda another tongue-lashing for being such a useless peon. If he doesn't win the next race, Miss Killer will be taking his place in the ranks. The next Grand Prix is about to begin, and the stadium seats are packed with visitors from Takora, cheering the loudest for their hero. However, Octoman is begging Zoda to allow him to win this race; his fans are counting on him! Zoda's got his own neck on the line, so he's in no position to lose; he tells the squid to do what he always does, hang back and fend off anyone who poses a threat. The race begins, and the announcer informs the audience of a last-minute cancellation: Captain Falcon will not be participating. So Burt was right! The White Cat and Astro Robin lead the race, but Zoda and his two henchmen aren't far behind, hitting the first boost pad. Zoda orders Octoman to hang back and guard his rear, and he agrees reluctantly...before handing that task to Bio Rex. Not far behind are Rick, Lucy and John Tanaka, making a rare racing appearance in his Wonder Wasp; they've got to keep an eye on Octoman and their Takoraian guests. The leading racers enter the next lap and run through the repair zone, refilling their ships' energy. While squaring off with Jack Levin, Zoda orders Bio Rex to slow to a crawl and wait to ambush him on the next lap. Rick abandons his post and boosts to catch up with Jody and Jack - they need his help! While briefing his lackeys on their objectives, Zoda offers Octoman all of the prize money if he helps him win. That ticks him off - he'd rather win this race himself! He boosts ahead and takes the lead, his boss demanding he return to his position. Meanwhile, Bio Rex gets the signal and knocks Jack Levin clean off the track. Octoman shuts off his communicator; he doesn't care about Zoda, he's winning this race for his people! He enters the second-to-last lap in first place, miles ahead of the competition. He's gotta win this, he can't fail now! The rest of the racers suddenly begin flying passed him with ease. He's out of power! He chugs slowly through the repair zone, the gap between him and the lead growing wider and wider as they reach the final lap. It can't end like this...! The Wonder Wasp makes a surprise reappearance, boosting passed the rest of the racers and catching up to Zoda. He tries to take on the Death Anchor head-on, but Zoda zooms ahead, summoning Bio Rex to do the dirty work for him. The two machines begin clashing, but they both begin to spin out of control! The Big Fang crashes into Zoda, the Dragon Bird comes crashing into John, the White Cat into Rick's rear, and so on until the entire roster is left in a smoking pile-up...allowing the Deep Claw to chug between the wreckage with ease! Octoman is the winner! The people of Takora can't believe it - they got to witness just another of their hero's brilliant victories! Clank, meanwhile, can't believe what a debacle that was. Burt thought it was a sweet surprise - it ain't over 'til it's over, after all! Octoman earns his trophy and wins a loving celebration from his people...but also receives a thrashing from Zoda. He stole his victory, and there's no prize money left for him?! In the Falcon House, Clank is keen to report that Octoman paid his debts in entirety for the Takoraian's visit, which they commend him for; the slimy cephalopod did keep his promise! Even better, the leftover money was given to the Takoraian visitors, who spent it all on snacks, treats and garish souvenirs. At least the money isn't in Dark Million's hands.
