A once-enthusiastic scientist, now withdrawn and burdened by guilt, has abandoned his former identity after failing to save a close companion. Living a quiet life as a student, he avoids the memories of his past. While working at a university tech event, he meets a lively young woman who later serves as an interpreter for a presentation led by a professor. Together, they reveal an AI capable of replicating a person's memories and personality in a detailed simulation. The woman and the professor were former university colleagues of the scientist’s lost friend and have created a version of her using the AI. Hired to study the simulation, the scientist is given the opportunity to engage with a digital replica of his friend. As he becomes more involved, he must navigate the ethical and temporal risks of tampering with time.
