Ginga Densetsu Riki

Riki is the grandfather of Weed and the son of Shiro and Yamabuki. When Shiro's owner, Gohei, chooses a puppy from the litter, Riki is overlooked and remains with his mother. Later, Yamabuki is reclaimed by her rightful owner, who is no longer ill, but cannot care for two dogs, so Riki is left behind. Missing his mother, Riki sets out to find her but is attacked by a group of dogs. Overwhelmed, he tries to flee and ends up in a river. He is later rescued by Shiro, a father he has never met. Shiro, unaware of their relationship, delivers a message about strength before leaving. Riki, inspired by the encounter, dedicates himself to becoming stronger.
