Yuji overhears his classmate Yamato admitting to a friend that he is gay, which changes how Yuji sees him. Struggling to avoid letting bias affect his judgment, Yuji becomes more observant of how Yamato interacts with others, especially with Yuji’s best friend. Despite trying to stay out of it, Yuji becomes drawn into Yamato’s unrequited feelings, as the boy Yamato is interested in is clearly straight and unaware. As Yuji and Yamato spend more time together in a study group, their friendship deepens, and Yuji begins to genuinely care about Yamato as an individual, beyond his sexual orientation.
