Takao Taniguchi injures a finger during a junior high baseball game, ending his ability to play. In high school, he continues to observe the baseball club but remains unable to participate. His persistence draws attention from the soccer team captain, and despite his lingering interest in baseball, he joins the soccer club. Though inexperienced, he demonstrates a strong work ethic developed in junior high, impressing his teammates. He dedicates himself fully to soccer but still holds onto his passion for baseball, secretly umpiring games to stay connected to the sport.
