Sariphi and Teiryns capture the real attacker, a Badger who hated authority. Because the beasts are mostly colorblind, Sariphi was the only one able to tell the fur did not match Lante but matched the Badger. Upon release, Lante swears eternal loyalty to Sariphi for believing in him. Braun officially becomes the Lord of Maasya. When they arrive home, Sariphi faints from exhaustion and is sent to her room.
