Monkey Turn

A manga adaptation originally published in Weekly Shounen Sunday, this sports anime centers on professional speed boat racing. The main character, Tadano Kenji, is a short young man who gives up on his dream of becoming a professional baseball player after facing physical limitations. With encouragement from his baseball coach, he is introduced to boat racing. He reconnects with an old girlfriend and makes a mutual promise: she will remain faithful to him if he commits to becoming Japan's top racer within three years. During a visit with her, he devises a unique boat maneuver he calls the Monkey Turn, which gives him a competitive edge. The story follows his efforts to use this technique to reach the top of his field.
