Inuyasha is able to take out almost all of the shards of the Shikon Jewel from Bankotsu's body. Inuyasha describes Bankotsu as a human shield for Naraku, to which he objects. Inuyasha notices a shard of the Shikon Jewel embedded in Bankotsu's Banryu when it evolves after slashing through one thousand demons. The fight finally reaches its conclusion when Inuyasha uses the Backlash Wave. Mount Hakurei becomes animated, becoming like quicksand within the caves, where Koga becomes devoured.
