Characters from earlier .hack//G.U. games and .hack//Roots receive a message from Ovan inviting them to the Hidden Forbidden Festival, a mysterious summer event. At the festival, they encounter an AIDA named Chim Chim, which expresses a desire for peaceful coexistence with other players in The World. Chim Chim later changes into the word "Returner," leading the group to believe it refers to Ovan's return to the game.
