In the near future, a species of large, insect-like aliens is found moving through space, intent on destroying humanity as it expands beyond the solar system. In response, humans create space vessels and massive combat robots, piloted by young trainees selected from global academies. The narrative starts in 2023, shortly after initial conflicts with the aliens, focusing on Noriko Takaya, a student at one such academy. Her father, a renowned fleet captain, died in an early battle, but her piloting abilities remain uncertain. At the academy, she is joined by Kazumi Amano, a skilled and accomplished pilot. Together, they confront the emotional scars of war, skepticism from others, and Noriko’s personal struggles with self-doubt.
