第 4 集: Roji 在與 Imai 一同前往 Magic Law Academy 的旅途中，回憶起過去與 Muhyo 的採訪。

Goryo takes over Muhyo and Roji's office and fires Ebusi for failing him. After Muhyo gave Roji an indefinite break, Muhyo says he will work with Yoichi Himukai and Yū "Biko" Abiko in order save Rio. Roji boards a train with Reiko Imai headed to the Magic Law Academy. Two years ago, Roji applied to be Muhyo's assistant by taking an interview exam, but Roji mistook Muhyo for a kid before the interview exam began. At night, Roji and a magical law judge ended up coiled inside a bald snake vengeful spirit in Roji's hotel room. As the other applicants failed to exorcise the vengeful spirit, Roji concentrated his ren into the judge's staff in order to free both of them. Muhyo then sentenced the snake spirit to Hades's Grasping Hands for the crimes of unlawful entry to a residence and willful injury. Although the other applicants praised Roji, Muhyo berated the other applicants as pathetic hyenas. Muhyo approached the sullen Roji, who admitted that he wanted to save people. The next day, Roji was crestfallen by a posted sign stating that no one passed the interview exam. However, since Roji saved the judge, he was given a pair of green suspenders and was granted to be Muhyo's assistant with the rank of a second-class secretary. In the present, Roji and Imai arrive at the Magic Law Academy. When Roji still wonders why he was chosen as Muhyo's assistant, Imai urges Roji to figure it out himself.
