Ep. 1: Anne Arrives at Green Gables and Faces Uncertainty with the Cuthberts
Eleven-year-old Anne Shirley travels from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island, expecting to join the Cuthberts. At the station, she meets Matthew Cuthbert, while Marilla informs Rachel Lynde she is raising a boy. During the ride to Green Gables, Anne charms Matthew with her imagination and nicknames. Upon arrival, Marilla demands to see the boy, leading Matthew to explain the mix-up. Anne feels unwanted and clarifies her name is Anne, not Ann. She refuses dinner and cries herself to sleep. The next morning, she accepts her fate but stays indoors. They visit Mrs. Spencer to return her, where Anne speaks reluctantly. After Anne frightens Mrs. Blewett, Marilla rescues her and returns to Green Gables. Marilla doubts keeping Anne, while Anne prays for a better future.
