Ep. 3: Leo guides Arte through a carnival dissection and painting lesson, revealing her gender and causing chest pain.

Leo takes Arte to a carnival, insisting she wear men's clothing to avoid detection. They encounter a courtesan who is a regular customer of Leo's. Leo then arranges for Arte to observe a human dissection, an act typically forbidden by the church outside of carnival season. Arte sketches the corpse to study the human form but is accidentally exposed as a woman, forcing them to hide due to church laws prohibiting female observers. During this close proximity, Arte experiences unexplained chest pain. Later, Leo asks Arte to sketch the Arno river for a new painting of a woman. He rejects her initial attempts, prompting her to realize she focused on the background rather than the subject. After producing a simpler sketch, Leo allows her to paint the background before delivering it to the client. That night, Leo informs Arte that her contract with the town notary will be renewed with a pay raise, complimenting her spirit. Arte suffers from chest pain once more.
