The girls study for exams while Tomo tests Chiyo and Osaka with wordplay riddles at the shrine.
Sep 24, 2002As entrance exams approach, Tomo attempts to stump Chiyo with wordplay, but Osaka answers correctly by accident. After Osaka worries about his career, Yukari defends Chiyo’s feelings. The group studies at Chiyo’s home and visits a shrine on New Year’s Day to pray for success. Tomo receives a bad fortune, but Yukari reveals the priest’s son failed, making the predictions irrelevant. Osaka suggests a superstition involving splitting chopsticks for luck, and Chiyo provides handmade charms. During a final study session, Chiyo reflects on their rapid progress toward graduation. Sakaki and Kagura pass their exams, while Tomo and Osaka fail initially. However, they eventually succeed through another chance, leaving only Yomi to take her test.

Graduation ceremony brings tears, wallet loss, and final farewell before amusement park trip
Oct 1, 2002Before graduation, Osaka shares her hay fever routine with Chiyo. At the ceremony, Chiyo wins best academic performance and receives a standing ovation from Tomo and Osaka. The graduation song moves Chiyo to tears as she faces leaving school. Yukari is upset about a lost wallet, but classmates donate small amounts to help until Nyamo returns it. Nyamo is congratulated, Kimura cries over staff departures, and Yukari receives a flower bouquet. Kaorin requests a photo of Tomo and Sakaki, while Kagura considers keeping classroom furniture. Chiyo suggests an amusement park trip; Yomi agrees but is offended by Tomo’s comment about waiting for results. Chiyo bows goodbye to the school. Later, Yomi is shocked to hear she failed the entrance exam, but discovers she actually passed. As they head to the station, Chiyo realizes their bond will endure beyond graduation.
