Ashido’s mask absorbs an Adjuchas attack, allowing Rukia to kill the creature. Ichigo and others find Nel but face an ambush, which they defeat. Rukia and Ashido defeat another Adjuchas, leading to a group reunion. Ashido attempts to guide them out, but an Adjuchas attack collapses the path. Ashido stays behind to fight the remaining Adjuchas while the others return to the surface. Rukia promises to return for him. In Las Noches, Ulquiorra tells Orihime that her friends have launched a rescue mission. This event occurs during the Arrancar: The Hueco Mundo Sneak Entry arc, specifically episode 18 of 20.
