Following Kouga's defeat, Muramasa destabilizes after absorbing hollows to survive without a master. Hollows emerge from his body, causing a transformation into an arrancar-like state. Orihime attempts to reach him, but he attacks the group. Ichigo slashes Muramasa, triggering a further transformation into a large dome-shaped mass that engulfs him. The previously rebellious zanpakutou return to their owners to assist Ichigo and his friends in the battle. This event occurs during the Zanpakutou Unknown Tales arc, specifically episode 24 out of 26.
