Chad engages the Shrieker in combat with Rukia's assistance, managing to fight the invisible opponent despite his inability to see it. Ichigo subsequently arrives at the scene and defeats the Shrieker. Because the Shrieker was a murderer during his life, he is dragged through the Gates of Hell rather than dissolving into the Soul Society. Meanwhile, the spirit that had inhabited the cockatiel is released and allowed to move on to the Soul Society. This event is part of the Agent of the Shinigami arc, specifically entry number 5 out of 20.
