Ep. 23: Momiji Taken by Murakumo; Kusanagi Rescues Her Amidst Rising Tensions

Momiji and the TAC hide in Sakura’s apartment to evade the government while researching the Arigami. Sakura reveals that US assistance is unavailable until the Japanese government formally requests it under the joint-treaty. Murakumo attacks, wounding Yaegashi and abducting Momiji to reach Kaede. Kusanagi intervenes, leading to a battle where Kaede saves Momiji, though her mitama is lost until Kusanagi retrieves it. The giant mitama, Susano-oh’s resting place, shakes violently. Empowered by Momiji’s new mitama, Kusanagi flies them to safety. Meanwhile, the government releases photos of Momiji to the press, urging her surrender to save Japan.
