Ep. 1: Satoru Fujinuma travels back to 1988 after his mother's murder in 2006

In 2006, 29-year-old manga artist Satoru Fujinuma uses his "Revival" ability to save a boy from a truck, resulting in his hospitalization. His mother, Sachiko, reminds him of the 1988 kidnapping and murder of two classmates by Jun Shiratori. After Sachiko identifies a suspicious man as the true killer, she is murdered in Satoru's home. Satoru discovers her body and is immediately accused of the crime. Triggered by this tragedy, his Revival power sends him back in time to 1988, when he was an 11-year-old elementary school student, setting the stage for him to confront the past events and the true culprit responsible for the murders.
