Weeks prior, Hawks accepts Dabi’s invitation to join the League of Villains and attacks Best Jeanist during a recovery check. Midoriya celebrates New Year's with his mother before starting work studies. Endeavor meets his new interns in the city but interrupts their introduction to stop a villain promoting doomsday theories. After defeating the threat, Hawks gives Endeavor a copy of Destro’s book on the Meta Liberation War, pointing out specific highlighted passages. Endeavor notices Hawks’ unusual behavior and returns to his office to analyze the text. By connecting letters in the highlighted sections, he deciphers a secret warning from Hawks. The message reveals that the Meta Liberation Army plans to attack Japan in four months.
