Ep. 113: Albert departs secretly while Candy prays for Alistear and Patricia receives news of war
Albert leaves a thank-you note and departs with suited men, prompting Candy to search for him. Neil confronts his mother and Eliza, declaring his love for Candy and intent to run away. Candy visits a church reminiscent of Pony's Home to pray for Albert, where she meets Patricia praying for Alistear in France. Patricia shares a letter from Alistear describing the loss of his best friend and his realization that war is cruel. Candy gives Patricia a music box Alistear made for her. As Patricia listens to the repaired box on a train to Florida to reunite with her parents, Alistear engages in a dogfight. Mistaking a German pilot for his dead friend, Alistear hesitates and is shot down. The music box stops playing, signaling his death, but later resumes as Patricia travels with her grandmother.
