In a near-future setting, an amnesiac Casshern engages anti-human robots across a desolate Earth. Humanity was largely wiped out during an apocalyptic war while Casshern served under Braiking Boss, following his assassination of a woman named Luna. As Casshern searches for his true identity, he forms a bond with a robot girl named Ringo. However, Ringo becomes terrified of him after he brutally eliminates a robot attempting to attack her. Shortly thereafter, Casshern crosses paths with Lyuze, an anti-Casshern mercenary. The narrative explores his violent past and his struggle to understand his role in the destruction of the world he once helped create.
