A new fortune teller captivates the city, prompting Cinderella's stepmother to send her to fetch him. When payment is demanded, the stepmother trades Cinderella's mother's doll instead. Cinderella seeks the fortune teller to retrieve the doll and uncovers his secret: he is actually a boy named Yan who requires money, despite possessing occasional future-seeing abilities. Yan returns the doll, and the two form a friendship. He then reads Cinderella's future, envisioning her in a splendid ball gown. Although he omits specific details, he assures her that she possesses the brightest future he has ever witnessed.
