She desires a home birth, prompting Sanae to arrange for a midwife named Yagi. Sanae warns Tomoya that Nagisa’s frail health poses serious risks, potentially endangering her life and suggesting abortion, though the decision rests with the couple. Despite learning of her mother’s fears, Nagisa chooses to proceed with the delivery. Akio shares a past memory with Tomoya, recounting how he prayed for Nagisa’s life in a meadow after she nearly died. He reassures Tomoya that they will always support the couple as family. Finally, Tomoya and Nagisa walk by the river and agree to name their baby Ushio.
