During the fourth inning, Azuma hits a double but fails to score. By the end of six innings, Ko has struck out 10 of 18 batters while the score remains tied. In the seventh inning, Shimano injures a finger and is replaced by Mishima, who later hits a solo home run to tie the game at 1. In the top of the ninth, Senda singles, setting up a matchup between Azuma and Mishima. Ryuo sends Oikawa to relieve, who intentionally walks Azuma before striking out Akaishi. Ko pitches to Mishima with speed over control, resulting in a blazing line drive that Ko barely catches.
