Akane Takigawa apologizes to Ko for construction noise, prompting Ko to reflect on Wakaba’s unchanged fifth-grade image. Mizuki invites Aoba to a summer festival, leading Ko to dream of honoring a promise to Wakaba before meeting Akane at her family’s soba restaurant. On the anniversary of Wakaba’s death, Aoba advises Ko to report his tournament results at the grave. Ko encounters Akane in a yukata resembling Wakaba’s, drawing questions from Aoba and Akaishi about whether ghosts age. At the festival, Ko reunites with Momiji, Ichiyo, Aoba, and Mizuki after meeting Akane’s parents. The group’s squabble halts when the Tsukishima siblings spot Akane within the crowd.
