Ko strikes out the final Ryuo batter to tie the game 1-1, sending it into extra innings. In the tenth, Ko bunts but remains on base. Ryuo scores when Oikawa hits a line drive that Ko, whose arm is still injured from Mishima's hit, fails to catch. Ryuo wins the game. Ko apologizes to a disappointed Aoba, who manages to smile. Ryuo subsequently wins the prefectural tournament and their first Koshien game. Ko apologizes to Azuma for the error, but Azuma advises him to focus on Aoba's disappointment at missing tournament play. While walking past construction next to Kitamura Sports, Ko and Azuma hear a young woman resembling Wakaba state the site will become a soba restaurant.
