Armand Jeremiah, an old friend of Huey, visits their estate to request a Phantom Book. He intends to give this item to Viola Duplessis, a notorious courtesan who requires suitors to obtain Phantom Books as a condition for marriage eligibility. Since Armand is not the first suitor to seek these books at the estate, Huey and Dalian accompany him to meet Viola. Their goal is to investigate the specific reasons behind her unusual demand for Phantom Books from her potential husbands.
