Ep. 1: Light Yagami finds a notebook that kills people and decides to become a god.

Light Yagami discovers a notebook outside his high school that claims to kill anyone whose name and face are known. He initially dismisses the Death Note as a hoax but confirms its reality after testing it. The original owner, a shinigami named Ryuk, approaches Light to explain that the notebook now belongs to him. As the new owner, Light is the only one who can see and interact with Ryuk. Ryuk also warns that he will write Light's name in his book when Light's time to die arrives. Motivated by these events, Light decides to use the Death Note's power to rid the world of evil and become the God of a new, peaceful world.
