Daniel is removed from duty by the Steering Committee due to his unauthorized entry into the Asylum. After farewell drinks, he learns from a dying associate that Vera was framed regarding the Aruka ring. Nadia helps Hayden track Vera, who is wounded while Hayden claims knowledge of her repeated EL-Cee missions ending in Leslie's death. Daniel disarms Hayden, but the latter escapes with the ring using diversionary explosions. Vera gives Daniel the Akura crystal, revealing its true power lies there, not in the ring. Daniel prepares to depart for Argentina but returns to find Vera and others dead in a church. He then wakes up in his room with his suitcases packed, repeating the initial dream sequence.
