Set in feudal Japan, Lyar confronts a spectral entity resembling Misaki in her ghoul form. Although the apparition attempts to communicate, Lyar dismisses it as a GHOUL illusion and destroys it, causing the historical Misaki to die while her younger self watches sadly. Lyar is compelled to depart prematurely as the time rift closes, forcing him to abandon his new ally rather than assist him. When questioned, the ally reveals his true name is Ishikawa Goemon. Young Misaki follows Lyar and Kotoko back through the portal. Kotoko notes historical records of a Goemon who unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate a ruler of Japan and was subsequently executed.
