Goku and Krillin begin their semifinal bout, appearing evenly matched after several minutes. Krillin uses the sun's reflection off his bald head to blind Goku, kicking him down, but Goku lands on his feet and counterattacks. Krillin then manipulates his air intake to float, disrupting Goku's timing. Elsewhere, Tien confronts Master Roshi regarding his withdrawal from the tournament. Roshi explains that he is not a killer despite his demeanor and asserts that Tien possesses a conscience that will define him as a hero. Tien attempts to disregard this advice, vowing to kill Goku to disprove Roshi's perspective.
