Ep. 8: Shobu Faces Mysterious Dragon Mask Duelist and Discovers His Mother's Secret Identity
Shobu investigates a cow sketch clue in a nearby village, hearing a mysterious voice at night that leads him to a masked duelist. Despite having stronger monsters, Shobu loses the duel to a green and red dragon. The next morning, he reveals a family photo where a card falls from the frame, identifying it as Bombazar, Dragon of Destiny, the card that caused his defeat. The masked challenger reappears, promising to defeat Shobu using that specific card. Shobu constructs a new deck centered on Bombazar and wins the rematch. He later discovers the challenger was his mother, Mai Kirifuda, who explains his father used this card in past tournaments. When Shobu questions how a woman’s voice matched the manly tone of the opponent, his father, Knight, admits he was the one in the mask, revealing he is a world-class champion duelist.
