Ep. 9: Shinra battles Rekka while Tamaki protects children from the Lieutenant's pyrokinesis assault.

Shinra defeats Lieutenant Rekka in a pyrokinesis duel, forcing the officer to reveal his search for latent fire users and his allegiance to the Evangelist. Rekka attempts to ignite an inferno but is frozen by Flam Karim. Before Karim can act further, two white-cloaked assassins kill Rekka to silence him. The attackers then fire at Karim and Huo Yan Li, causing Li to lose an arm while shielding his companion. Shinra generates a smokescreen to obscure their targets, allowing the assassins to retreat. Following this encounter, Karim proposes an alliance with Company 8 to locate the Evangelist. Meanwhile, after being suspended by Company 1, Tamaki is transferred to Captain Obi's Company 8.
